What a big year 2018 has been on so many fronts!
Some have been stressful, some have been exciting. Some I predicted back in this post, some we didn’t see coming …
January – The hubster and I headed to Canberra (so he could fulfil a lifelong dream to go to the Street Machine Summernats!) for a short holiday, before plunging back into work for the year.
The highlight for me? Riding a segway for the first time!

February – I had a BCC removed from my cheek, the cosmetic surgeon did a beautiful job and you can barely see the scar now. My god-daughter in New Zealand gave birth to her first baby, a girl, who she named … Aria JANET!
March – Hubby’s brother moved in with us. I did the first of several presentations at business events this year – teaching others about Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) or how to get found online.

April – We were lucky enough to secure tickets to the diving finals at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. My only uncle (mum’s brother) passed away unexpectedly, at the age of 70, which was quite sad, especially as we had only renewed contact in the last couple of years.
May – For our 28th wedding anniversary, we took a much-needed break at Wallaby Ridge Retreat near Mt Tamborine. Our son turned 24, and we celebrated my Dad’s 75th birthday with a lunch at his boat club – it’s not often all my siblings and families get together these days!

June – Going through a bit of a board games phase whenever we get together with the kids (Mr 24, Miss 21 and her man). First it was Monopoly, then it was Battleships, next was the Poker phase. Love spending time with our kidults!

July – The hubster turned 50! We stayed at O’Reilly’s Mountain Retreat and hiked (approx. 23km) to Binna Burra, very proud of our achievement. Our house guest moved out, and we also helped Miss 21 shift into a larger unit which is closer to us 🙂 .
August – Hubby took some time off work to complete his Diploma of Local Government. So now we are both Dips! (Although I’m double dipping – with a Dip Teaching and a Dip Digital Marketing, LOL).

And we bought a house just up the street. What can I say – we like this area!

September – Getting ready to move – packing up, rented a storage shed etc as the new house needs some painting and TLC before we move in (it’s always been a rental).
October – Mr 24 finished his Bachelor of Commerce and started job hunting. Plus, Miss 21 and her man got engaged! Not sure of a wedding date but it looks like I will be a Mother of the Bride sometime in 2020.

November – Mr 24’s job hunt was successful – in the end he was offered a couple of jobs! He has started with a financial planning business in the city, and was so thrilled to finally quit his fast food job after 8 years.
We “moved” into the new house (more accurately, started camping in the new house), and Miss 21 became Miss 22.

And so to December.
We were very proud to be at Mr 24’s graduation – and relieved to get our old house officially on the market.

Not surprisingly, after a very full-on 2018, we are now enjoying a couple of weeks off and just relaxing and settling into the new house.
To each and every one of my readers – thank you for being a part of my journey in 2018. I hope you had a lovely Christmas and that 2019 is a good year to you in every way!

Happy New Year Janet – it looks like 2018 was a good year for you all, and I hope your old house sells quickly so you can settle into the new one without any financial hassles. Enjoy your time off (I have a couple more weeks of leave too – and I’m loving it!)
