Unless you’re a newcomer here at Middle Aged Mama, you’ve probably noticed that I’m lovin’ life right now.
A big part of that is because I love working from home!
I have my own business as a Brisbane SEO copywriter, and my office is in our home.
At first I worried that I would feel lonely or isolated, but the reality is I’m usually too busy to even think of it!
It’s worked out well, and I’ve surprised myself by how much I love working from home.
Here are 30 reasons why:
- There’s no dress code! High heels, slippers, track pants, tiara … I can even work in the nude if I really want to!
- I love having my kitty as my office companion.
- Some days I stop for a nanna nap after lunch.
- If I’m just not feeling it, and workload allows, I can goof off – rearrange my pinboard, or sort out my stationery drawer.
- If I get inspired to write a post for my blog (like now), I can just go with it!
- No commuting!
- I set my own working hours.
- I can stop for a break whenever I want.
- I don’t have to call in on a sick day
- I can take a day off without having to ask permission
- I can start later on the days I go to an aqua aerobics class.
- I don’t have to wear pantihose!
- I don’t have to fight for a carpark.
- I don’t have to pay for parking.
- It’s a peaceful work environment.
- I can set the air con to the temperature I want, or turn it off.
- Pretty much everything I need is right here – coz it’s my home!
- I like being able to cook something for lunch if I want to. Earlier this week it was potato fritters; yesterday it was a cheesy omelette. Yum.
- No office politics!
- I can catch up with a friend for coffee whenever I want.
- If Miss 20 has the day off and wants to go shopping, I’m in!
- I can listen to the radio – and even get to pick the station!
- Maybe I’m weird, but I’m glad I get to use my OWN toilet when nature calls!
- Because I am not limited to after work hours, it’s much easier to schedule things like haircuts, or appointments with my local optometrist, etc.
- If I have a sniffle or cough, I can still go to work without feeling guilty that I’m infecting all my colleagues.
- I don’t need to see the doctor to get a medical certificate just because I took a day of sick leave.
- More work means more pay – plenty of incentive to work hard!
- No annoying colleagues with irritating habits like eating smelly tuna at their desk, or sniffing constantly.
- I don’t get into trouble if I check Facebook (actually, I *have* to check it regularly as I manage several pages for clients!).
- And finally: I have a great boss – ME! (Or maybe Miss Fleur is actually the boss. She certainly seems to think so!)
So yeah, that’s my story … (sorry, totally stole this saying from Miss 20)
What are you lovin’ about life right now?!
