7 Days of Hairstyles Challenge

Janet Camilleri · 17/11/2017 ·

When it comes to hairstyles, although I’ve gone for different cuts and colours over the years, I never bothered to do different things with my hair on a daily basis.

However that’s all changed now that I’ve finally grown my fringe out – and I am loving the increased versatility it brings!

So although I am happy with how it usually looks, over the past few months I’ve been experimenting with different hairstyles, just to see what’s possible … sometimes it’s as simple as adding a hair clip, other days it’s a bit more involved.

I’ve discovered some great new looks and it’s been a lot of fun! Of course, it helps that I’ve picked up some techniques and found some great products that help me to have a good hair day, every day.

Take a look at just some of the hairstyles I’ve been taking for a test drive!

7 Days of Hairstyles

Day 1 – My Regular Hairstyle

My regular hairstyle – a slightly layered variation of the bob which is quick and easy to style. Sometimes I use a straightener to curl the front away from my face, but most of the time I don’t bother.

Day 2 – The Messy Bun

This has quickly become my “go to” style when it’s hot and I want my hair off my neck. Thanks to Miss 21-next-week for teaching me how to do it!

Day 3 – Flicked Out

This look is popular with newsreaders and reporters the world over – and now with this average everyday middle aged woman too. Mind you, it takes about a gallon of texturising and hair sprays to keep it in place, but worth it I think!

Day 4 – Scrunch for Curls

Does anybody else remember using mousse and “scrunching” while blow drying, to achieve beachy waves back in the day? Well the 80’s are back baby!

However – I must confess that I did *not* set out to achieve this particular look on this particular day – it was just a side effect of the humid weather. But it ain’t half bad, and I think I still have a can of mousse in the bathroom somewhere …

Day 5 – A Simple Hair Clip

I picked up this cute frangipanni hair clip on our Bali holiday this year, and love to wear it for two reasons: Number 1 – it brings back great memories; and Number 2 – it’s quick and easy and keeps my hair out of my eyes!

Day 6 – French Twist

God bless the French, for bringing us not only french braids (the saviour of hair that desperately needs a wash but still needs to look presentable), but also the french twist. Simple, classic, and elegant – and yet the french twist is something I have never really mastered until now.

Day 7 – The “No Name” Style

Now my fringe is grown out, I sometimes like to pull the top half of my hair back into a comb or clip, leaving the back down. I have no idea what to call this style, so would welcome your suggestions!

I’ll let you in on a little secret – for years I didn’t like wearing my hair pinned up or back, because I don’t really like my ears. But I’ll bet you didn’t even notice them! I think there’s something in that for all of us, don’t you?! 😉

Which one is your favourite out of the hairstyles I’ve shown here?

I love them all, especially the French Twist. I have two go-to hairstyles, in a ponytail or down, I really need to hone my hair skills and try something new! You’ve inspired me 🙂

Looking good! And you’re right, I didn’t even notice your ears. Then I went back to notice them (lol ), and they just look like ears to me !

Ah yes but they are usually strategically hidden by my hair! One ear really sticks out, the other is okay.
