Middle age is hard to define.
And yet, it happens to us all sooner or later – and I’m pretty sure I’m in the thick of it!
We’ve all seen the ad about the “7 Signs of Ageing” … well today, I’d like to present the 7 Signs of Middle Age (for women anyways), all of which I identify with way too much.
My 7 Signs of Middle Age
1. Nobody wolf whistles any more
Remember the days when you’d walk past a building site to the tune of wolf whistles? No, neither can I – it’s obviously too long ago …
2. You get called “Ma’am”
I know the shop assistant is only trying to be polite, but there’s nothing like being called “Ma’am” to make you realise you’ve reached middle age.
3. You never get asked for ID at a club or pub anymore
Seriously – couldn’t they just do it to humour us? I’m sure they’d get heaps more customers, don’t you agree?!
4. Your arms seem to have become too short
Even when you hold a book or magazine out at arm’s length, you still struggle to read the text. Obviously, it’s because my our arms have shrunk 😉
5. You no longer think of Macca’s / Hungry Jacks as a “treat”
In fact, the thought of it makes you shudder.
6. You choose comfort over fashion
Elastic waists. Comfortable shoes. Need I say more?!
7. You notice that the “big stars” from your generation are now playing the parents …
Rather than the lead or love interest in TV shows and movies. Case in point: Russell Crowe and Diane Lane in the new Superman flick, Man of Steel.
Unfortunately I don’t think Oil of Olay is going to be any help for THESE 7 signs of middle age … sigh … (and if you remember when it was called Oil of Ulan in Australia, then that is another sign of middle age!)
