What I’m about to say may just set women’s rights back by about 100 years – but I have decided that I love aprons.
I popped into Lincraft recently and was entranced by the pretty colours and styles! One or two may have just ended up sneaking home with me .
But what I love most about aprons is how practical they are.
Top 5 Reasons why I Love Aprons
1. They protect your clothing from flour or random splashes of sauce etc – which is great if you are a bit of a messy cook like me!
2. You’re busy cooking and there’s a knock at the door, or the phone rings. Instead of hunting for a tea towel or washing your hands, just wipe them on your apron and you’re good to go.
3. Many aprons have a handy front pocket. Great for storing a hair elastic or clip so you can pin your hair off your face when cooking, or a pair of glasses, or a tissue or pegs or …
4. They’re cute and great for a bit of retro style!
5. Maybe I’m strange, but it helps me switch off from work (I work from my home office) and get into “family” mode of an evening as I prepare dinner.
I’m even thinking of getting a couple as birthday gifts for a couple of special gals – but am a little bit worried they might get offended!
Do you love aprons too? Or would you be offended – or think it weird or old-fashioned – to receive an apron for a gift?!
Aroha @ Colours of Sunset says
Cute aprons! I think they look good but I don’t think I would EVER wear one. I have never OWNED one! But gosh, $4.99, I hope you bought 5! π

Never say never Aroha π

I don’t think anyone would be offended, they do look so cute!
We’re off to Lincraft this afternoon, but only for craft supplies, you know the important stuff when you’re 10 years old π
Janet Camilleri says
Ooo have fun, I love craft shopping at Lincraft even though I’m not 10 years old.

I love aprons…I just forget to wear them! If I had a special one maybe I wouldn’t?
Janet Camilleri says
I’ve never owned one before this so it’s a treat for me!
Bec @ The Plumbette says
I’ve been getting out my apron recently to stop food spluttering on my tops now that my bump is making my shirts extend out longer. I think everyone needs a good apron. Even the blokes that man the bbq.
Janet Camilleri says
Actually you’re right – the hubster has had an apron for BBQing for years (not that he wears it but still …) but this is the first time I’ve had an apron!
Christine Bunn says
I love aprons, I have 5 aprons that I choose from at home. I love matching my apron with what I’m wearing on the day. The prettier the better. I also love a pretty parasol, I have two that I use instead of a hat. I am a true 50’s wife.
Janet Camilleri says
I can TOTALLY see you rocking a chic apron Christine!
Tegan says
I think I need more of a hasmat suit rather than an apron lol! I am so messy when I cook. When I used to work in a small supermarket while I was at uni we were given those half aprons to wear. I used it for so much more than just work! The thing I found it most useful for was piling pens etc into when I was doing assignments with limited space.
Janet Camilleri says
Haha hazmat suit! Yes!!!

I wore an apron at work for 8 years. I do have one at home and wore it last when I was preparing for christmas day, a boring black one. I should get myself some bright ones and use them, lord knows I am always staining my clothes in the kitchen.
Lisa Barton-Collins says
I wear an apron when I bake, because I am normally wearing black which is great for showing off spilled flour. Have you tried an op shop? Lot’s of retro aprons there!
xx
Janet Camilleri says
Ooo great thinking, will have to look next time I’m op shopping!!! I still remember my Grandma wearing an apron when I was a little critter.
Pinky Poinker says
Even though I’m always splattering spaghetti sauce or whatever all over me when I cook dinner it has never occurred to me to wear an apron. Duh! I like the idea of the pocket too!
EssentiallyJess says
I love aprons! I just need a good spot in the kitchen to hang it when I’m finished!
I made a sewing apron as well for quilting, and I love that. It’s only a short one (without the top bit- such technical talk), but I put loads of pockets in so I can access scissors, stitch unpicks or whatever I want whenever I need it. π
Kathy Marris says
I love the old apron. It saves your work clothes from oil splatter or tomato pasta sauce splatter. I reckon we all should have at least one in our kitchen.
Living Serenely says
I’m an apron gal too! I have a pretty apron to wear for when we have guests over for meals. But on an everyday basis, I love my big apron that covers my whole front down to my knees. It gets all stained and damp by the end of the day, but that’s what it’s there for after all!
Deb @ Home life simplified says
cute! i hate cooking and spent a fair whack of money on the cutest apron to inspire me to want to put it on and be in the kitchen. i then added a vintage half apron (you know without the upper part lol) in a cheery yellow – i still manage to forget about them and i still hate cooking lmao
