The motto for the month was “Stay Home, Stay Safe” – and that’s pretty much what we did, apart from the odd trip to the shops and a weekly visit to see my Dad who has been in hospital and rehab following ankle surgeries and a stroke.
Funnily enough, FOOD seems to have played a starring role in my Sentence a Day journal entries and photos. Hmmmm, what does that tell you about how we are coping with lockdown?!
April – One of the benefits of the husbear working from home is that he is doing more of the cooking. Tonight he made chocolate mousse for dessert!
April – I had to post a letter so went for a morning walk, couldn’t believe just how empty the streets were in peak hour …
April – With my dad still in hospital/rehab, their yard was getting a bit overgrown so the husbear and I headed over to visit my stepmum and do some tidying up.
April – The husbear finally moved my bookshelves from the garage to the upstairs landing and I had fun setting them up! We’ve only been in this house about 16 months LOL.
April – We visited my Dad but had to go in one at a time for a maximum of half an hour each as per current restrictions. Husbear did a dump run and reported that there were enormous queues, seems like everybody is having the same idea now we’re pretty much in lockdown.
April – I was so exhausted that I collapsed into bed around 8pm – not like me at all – I’m more of a night owl!
April – Normally I just take a cuppa to my desk for morning tea, but today the husbear and I enjoyed the fresh air out on the deck and made up a plate of carrots, hummus, and a sneaky caramel slice 😉 .
April – In the evening I co-hosted a free webinar with my business coach, on thriving not just surviving in business over the next 100 days (I did the SEO content). At the end of the webinar I offered participants a free 30 minute one on one Zoom session to analyse and discuss their website’s SEO, and how it could be improved. I’m working hard to build my business and leads even in lockdown!
April – We may not be able to go to the movies but we still had a movie night – we watched The Healer on Netflix in the comfort of our own media room.
April – A quiet Good Friday and Mr 25 came over – he seems to be coping okay with working at home even though he lives on his own.
April – Ouch! Our front screen door bit me! Why do they make the bottom corner so razor sharp?!
April – Easter Sunday. The husbear brought me coffee in bed (actually he does that every day, how spoiled am I!) as well as a couple of little Easter eggs.
April – I started a jigsaw puzzle, and is this the world’s longest frozen chip?!
April – As mentioned earlier, the husbear is doing more cooking of late and tonight he came up with an awesome new recipe, SOOOOO YUMMY! Cook a handful of pasta til al dente, while cooking a couple of lamb chops in a frypan. When chops are almost done add a chopped onion and a can of tinned tomatoes. Drain pasta and stir in just before serving. We served it with a salad.
April – Relaxed in the evening with my current jigsaw puzzle, as you can see Miss Fleur was “helping”.
April – While participating in my fortnightly business mastermind group on Zoom, I noticed a scratch on my arm was bleeding – but I have no idea how I got it!
April – Watched “A Street Cat Named Bob” on telly, which I’ve wanted to see ever since I got the book about five years ago. Afterwards, I started re-reading the book (and yes it’s better than the movie, but the movie was pretty good too).
April – It might have been Saturday but I was still at my desk most of the day, writing some blog posts 🙂 . And check out the stunning sunset!
April – The husbear and I visited my Dad, here we are in the gardens at the hospital/rehab centre.
April – I popped out briefly to send a parcel, and buy some fruit and veges.
April – My neck and shoulders were extremely sore today, must be working too hard!
April – The husbear and I went for a walk in the evening, but I particularly love how he sold it to me (when all I wanted to do was blob on the couch): “Let’s go for a walk so we can hold hands” – how could I refuse! While we were out we may have picked up a couple of things from the local IGA.
April – Our internet connection has been painfully slow so I spent ages on the phone with our provider – troublesome tech – and it seems like our modem needs to be replaced.
April – Finally saw a pdf version of the story I gave to That’s Life magazine about meeting my penpal Cath … due to Coronavirus I missed out on actually buying the magazine, darn it!
April – Anzac Day. Last year I missed the super hornet fly past as I was in the kitchen preparing morning tea for visitors while they all got a great view up on the deck; I heard it but didn’t see it. So I’ve been waiting twelve whole months to get my turn and IT. WAS. CANCELLED. due to Coronavirus. Not happy Jan! Mr 25 insisted on giving me my Mother’s Day presents even though it’s two weeks’ early, he was just too excited – a Harry Potter jigsaw and some fancy teas with an infuser.
April – Suffering from the blahs 🙁 … but I still managed to fold all the washing so at least I ended the day with a sense of achievement!
April – The husbear prepared home-made sausage rolls for dinner (I could get used to this!), and afterwards we watched Flatliners on Netflix.
April – Had to pop out to the shop for a couple of essentials … chocolate, junk food, that sort of thing 😉 .
April – Started my new Harry Potter puzzle. It’s gonna be a tough one I think!
April – Another great Zoom meeting with my mastermind group, full of motivation and practical ideas for building my business. And, there is a definite touch of winter in the air!
It was a tough month in many ways, but the good news is that as I write this (ten days into May, oops, bit slack this month!) there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Many of the Coronavirus restrictions are starting to ease, and my Dad is due to go home this week after spending most of the last ten or so weeks in hospital/rehab!
What’s been happening (or not happening, given the fact we’ve been in lockdown) in your neck of the woods?!
