A Sentence A Day – August 2018

A Sentence a Day

Hello party people!

Yes it’s time again for me to try to sum up the month that was, in just a sentence a day. You know you love it!

In this month’s episode, there seems to be a lot of talk about vegetables … Oh, and there just might be some big news from the Middle Aged Mama household, but you’ll have to keep reading to find out what that is 😉 .

1 August – Pizza night! Miss 21 and her man joined us for a family dinner.

2 August – Time to send out invoices to my retainer clients.

3 August – Caught up with a friend for coffee, I decided to walk instead of driving. When I set out to return home, I quickly realised that the shoes I thought would be comfortable, actually weren’t, LOL. No blisters, just sore feet by the time I got home.

Nice day for a walk

4 August – Popped out to Big W to buy some more pot plants, a bit of colour for the backyard. Just happened to pick up a new pair of jeans while I was there (which you can read about in Why It’s So Hard to Find Jeans for an Apple Shape).

Pretty pink kalanchoe

5 August – Miss 21 and I did a spot of fruit and vege shopping.

6 August – Did I mention that the hubster is home for about 7 weeks, to finish his Diploma in Local Government? It’s lovely to have company when I have a cuppa (though he can also be a bit of a distraction when I’m trying to get work done!)

7 August – There’s a house in our neighbourhood which has been on the market for a few weeks – so hubster called the agent and arranged an inspection for Thursday.

8 August – You know those nightmares where you try to scream and nothing comes out? Well last night I woke my Bear up as I actually did call out!

9 August –  Went and looked at the house that’s for sale …

Who wouldn’t love a deck like this …

10 August – And decided to put in an offer.

11 August – Date night – had a good laugh with Arj Barker and his support act, Joel Ozborn.

12 August – The vendors accepted our offer – after 9 years in this house, it looks like we’ll be moving!

13 August – All I’ve written in my diary is that I had a lovely walk in the morning though I don’t remember it at all!

14 August – Miss 21 has a week off work so she came to visit. Love seeing my girl!

15 August – A public holiday here in Brisbane for Ekka Wednesday – but for me it was a case of public holiday? What public holiday?! LOL – too much work to do.

16 August – Mr 24 and I went to the doctor about getting some skin tags (me) and cherry hemangiomas (we both have a big one in the middle of our backs)  removed. I had some of the smaller skin tags zapped there and then!

Cherry hemangiomas – not dangerous, just ugly and annoying

17 August – Miss 21 and her man have gone away for a couple of days so we popped over to their place to feed the grandkitties.

Two of the three grandkitties – the other one was hiding!

18 August – The kidults came over for dinner, and brought their juicer and a stack of fruit and vegetables – the juice Miss 21 made for me, from carrot, celery, apple, pineapple and mint was absolutely DIVINE.

19 August – It’s amazing how moving house gets you motivated, began the de-cluttering process and packed up about a dozen bags ready for the op shop!

20 August – This week I’m helping a registered health practitioner to make sure her website is compliant with the AHPRA advertising guidelines – she says I’m a godsend – could this be a service I should add to my business offerings?!

21 August – Mr 24 and I both had our cherry hemangiomas removed.

22 August – Today I wrote web content on what it’s like to live with colour blindness, and popular makeup products – love the variety, and the things I learn, from my work!

23 August – That annoying moment when you are at the shop to pick up some groceries, and realise that all the great specials you circled are from LAST WEEK’S catalogue … grrrr.

These were a LOT cheaper in the specials last week!

24 August – On this day 7 years ago, I stumbled across the funeral notice for my own mother on the internet – only to realise that she’d passed away four and a half years earlier ….

25 August – Whenever we have a cuppa in the backyard lately, we are joined by several magpies scrounging for crumbs.

What you CAN’T see is Miss Fleur perched at the window behind us, desperate to chase them …

26 August – The deadline for my Bear’s diploma is looming, so I took pity on him and did the grocery shopping today (normally his job, but what can I say, I’m a great wife!).

27 August – I made roast chicken pieces and veges for dinner, only to realise that our oven is playing up – so it was about 8.30 before dinner was actually ready to eat.

28 August – Up late to prepare for tomorrow – stapling Boost chocolate bars to my business cards – and a final run through of my presentation for the Women’s Network Australia business toolkit.

My slogan is “Boosting your Business Online”

29 August – Loved presenting at the workshop, and met some fabulous people – afterwards I had a meeting with a client with an office nearby.

30 August – A big day – hubby finished his dreaded diploma – a day before deadline!

IT. IS. FINISHED!

31 August – It’s the end of the month so time for invoicing – no wonder I’ve been busy – I think this may have been my most profitable month EVER!

So our big news is that we’ve bought a new house and will be moving in a month or two … What was the highlight of August for you?
