You might have noticed there’s only been a couple of posts here on the blog since the last time I sat down to share my “Sentence A Day” post with you.
I guess that says it all really! Sometimes, despite my best intentions, life gets in the way of blogging and that’s been the case for me lately. I’ve got lots of ideas spinning around my head and things I want to tell you, but I’ve been struggling to find the time to sit down and actually create a blog post.
1 August – The second day of the Digital Marketing Down Under conference, which you can read all about in “Conferencing: Covid-style“.
2 August – From the moment I woke up (late! – I was exhausted after 2 days of intense learning, and it was Sunday after all), I was extremely dizzy. My TMJ (tendo mandibular joint) has been a bit sore since I went to the dentist a bit over a week ago, and I’m pretty sure this is related (I’ve had the occasional problem with my TMJ since I was pregnant with Mr 26, when I sneezed so hard I put my jaw out!).
3 August – Took myself off to the chiropractor about my TMJ problems – although it wasn’t 100% fixed in one session, it was definitely feeling a lot better (see smile below!). It’s been hard to eat, talk, smile, yawn and sneeze and ached a lot.
4 August – Watched the big red moon rise from out on our deck, just after dark, although I didn’t get any decent photos of it.
5 August – The husbear visited his parents in Toowoomba while I was at the conference last week, and brought back some succulents – how cute is this one which I planted in an old coffee mug!
6 August – My business mastermind group in the morning; in the evening, the husbear and I had dinner at Sushi Lovers in Raby Bay (our new favourite sushi joint)!
7 August – Another treatment at the chiropractor. We’re also addressing the pain and tightness I often experience in my neck and shoulders, as a result of slaving away at a hot computer most days! I’ve come to the realisation I’ve only got one body so I really need to take better care of it 😉 .
8 August – A real foggy start to the day, then I met with a friend for a coffee at Cleveland Point. While we were there, who should we bump into but two of our other workmates from when we all worked in the same section over 10 years ago! It was great to catch up, we had some good times together back then.
9 August – The Ekka (Brisbane Exhibition) might not have been on due to Covid, but the husbear brought me home a showbag – they’re being sold at local IGA supermarkets instead.
10 August – Met up online with a couple of other business-owning friends, for our monthly accountability catch up. Felt a bit disheartened afterwards, I’ve got so much to do and so much to learn about running my own business still!
11 August – The husbear and I included some exercise in our day, with a walk to the local bakery to buy a treat for morning tea 😉 .
12 August – Another session at the chiropractor.
13 August – Miss 23 and her fiance moved into their first home today! We dropped in with a home made lasagne for dinner, and to admire their new digs.
14 August – We had lunch with my Dad and stepmum at his boat club, and he seemed the happiest he’d been in ages … he loves his boat and going sailing! But after lunch he had a bit of a “turn”. An ambulance was called but he refused to go with them for further checks – totally understandable, he’s sick of being in hospital this year but we were very worried.
15 August – Popped into my local op shop for the first time in aeons, and bought a couple of novels. The fitting rooms remained close so although there was a dress I really liked, I wasn’t familiar with the brand and didn’t want to buy it if it didn’t fit.
16 August – Got the phone call we’d been more or less waiting for since Friday – Dad was back in hospital with a suspected bleed on the brain.
17 August –
18 August – Meeting with one of my newest clients to discuss their SEO strategy for the coming months; in the evening we visited Dad but he was very sleepy and I don’t think he’ll remember we were there.
19 August – Chiropractor visit.
20 August – Business mastermind group, I had a real light bulb moment about the growth of my business and my role in it so that I can work in my “awesome” space!
21 August – Last month we managed an overnight getaway; this month we wanted to have 3 days away so we set out in our motorhome for a place we’d found on Youcamp – a cattle farm not far from Beaudesert where we were treated to a spectacular sunset!
22 August – A relaxing day, with a campfire for brekky and dinner. My stepmum texted to say she’d been turned away when she’d arrived at the hospital to see Dad, due to a new outbreak of coronavirus the hospital is back in lockdown.
23 August – I laid down for a nap, and woke up FOUR HOURS LATER! Must have needed it. We arrived home about 6pm.
24 August – My Dad’s condition worsened so he had emergency surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain, so I visited my stepmum (along with 2 of my siblings) to keep her company, these rainbow lorikeets kept us amused as we sat out on the verandah.
25 August – I was exhausted, so much worry and stress about Dad who still hasn’t woken from surgery, tried to get some work done but ended up giving myself some time off.
26 August – Appointment at the eye specialist and another needle. Ouch!
27 August – Miss 23 and her fiance invited us over for dinner, we admired their new couch, afterwards the boys played on the Playstation, while Egg watched and Miss 23 and I chatted.
28 August – My first mammogram – and my first time wearing a face mask.
29 August – Visited my stepmum and we went for a walk followed by coffee and cake. She has been allowed to visit Dad a few times but nobody else can; Dad is more alert but still has a long way to go, however he’s aware enough to be quite depressed about being stuck in hospital.
30 August – It might have been Sunday, but after having two days away from my desk last week, I needed to do some work particularly as it’s end of month. Fleur helped.
31 August – Today’s the day – our roof is finally being repaired and restored – yay! About time – we knew it needed doing when we first put a contract on the place TWO YEARS AGO THIS MONTH – time flies!

I do panic a bit that we will regret choosing the dark paint colour for the house, as it will most likely fade over time. But what’s done is done and I’m going to enjoy it while it still looks shiny and new!
What’s new with you?!
Sorry to hear about your Dad’s health issues. Hope he’s doing ok.
Your house looks great!
And love the succulent in the mug
He’s back home now Liz which is something, though he still has severe aphasia.
