A Sentence A Day – February 2020

Janet Camilleri · 02/03/2020 · 2 Comments

Last month, I was excited to tell you about getting the outside of our house painted.

sentence a day feb 2020

Would you believe it’s still not finished?! It’s not the painter’s fault, it’s just the weather hasn’t been cooperating! All that’s left to be done is the doors – which requires a hot sunny day. Hopefully this week …

Meanwhile, here’s what happened in February!

1 February – Saturday, so we did a bit of op shopping – I got a lovely red sleeveless top.

2 February – A bit of reading; this is a brilliant book for anybody in their own business, highly recommended.

3 February – Finished my latest puzzle. Funny thing is it was meant to be a jigsaw of lanterns (see box) but clearly it wasn’t … LOL.

4 February – Had an early meeting with the lovely Courtney from Court and Co (I went to one of her pricing workshops last year, very helpful and informative). Check out the yummy vegan brekky I ordered! I must confess I could only eat half 😉 .

5 February – Great Zoom meeting with a web developer, about doing some copywriting and SEO for his clients. When I asked him how he found me, he said I came up on the first page of Google search results so I obviously know what I’m doing – and he was very impressed with the glowing testimonials on my website. Awwwww!

6 February – At my business mastermind today, I got some help and insight around how to structure my pricing and I had a bit of a “breakthrough” moment – it’s okay to charge a decent price because guess what? I’m worth it!

7 February – We bought a new (to us) car! Meet Olive, a BMW 323i. Very proud to have our first luxury European car 🙂 .

8 February – All the kids came over and Miss 23 and I spent some quality time together chatting and colouring in.

9 February – A rainy day. It’s no secret that I love my Sunday arvo nanna naps, but the husbear rarely joins me. Today, he did, and it was SOOOOO NICE to cuddle up to him and snooze.

10 February – More rain! We went for a drive in the new car in the evening.

11 February – After dinner the husbear had a craving for a mango lhassi, so he ordered one to take away from the local Indian restaurant. Bit strange but why not – it’s a lot healthier than MY usual after dinner craving – CHOCOLATE!

12 February – The rain has continued, this morning we woke up to a storm – the longest rumble of thunder ever! In the evening I went to a networking event, only a small group tonight as I think all the rain scared people away. It’s not all serious stuff – tonight we learned the latest dance move, “The Floss”. Hilarious!

13 February – I knew it! Because the husbear and I are going away for a long weekend tomorrow, my work went mental today – this always happens whenever I try to sneak a day off! In other news, my dad slipped on a wet path today and ended up in hospital with a broken ankle.

14 February – After a week or more of non-stop rain, the weather actually cleared up, which is great as we are spending the weekend down the Coast.

15 February – We went for a beach walk and climbed Fingal Head to see the lighthouse, and took in the amazing views.

16 February – Back home again in time for Miss 23 and her fiance to pop in with our wedding invitation. It’s getting close now!

17 February – Fleur has found a new hiding spot in our wardrobe …

18 February –  Was surprised to get a text and a photo from the kids this evening – Miss 23 was giving Mr 25 a cooking lesson! So good to see your adult kids hanging out together.

19 February – Today I was interviewed for the new Redlands Coast Business podcast, though it will be a few weeks before it’s live.

20 February – Sad to discover that one of my garden gnomes, Trevor, fell over and smashed in the storm last night, although the husbear thinks he can glue him back together.

21 February – Why have one new car when you can have two?! Meet Ruby, a BMW X6. The husbear used to love his V8’s but gave them up when our kids came along – but here we are with a V8 again!

22 February – Look who’s come to stay with us for a holiday?! (PS Fleur is NOT impresssed!)

SEth is back

23 February – Miss 23 and her fiance over for dinner and a bit of MAFS watching (I’m not hugely into it this year, but don’t mind watching the commitment ceremonies each Sunday night).

24 February – One of the benefits of working from home? Being able to make something simple, speedy and unbelievably YUMMY for lunch!

home made lunch

25 February – The husbear and I sat down for a VERY important conversation about what to do for our 30th wedding anniversary in May – and ended up booking tickets to the Harry Potter play in Melbourne, as well as flights and accommodation. Yay!

26 February – My Dad had a second operation on his ankle.

27 February – I don’t often get lonely, even though I work from home – I’m usually too busy. But today, when two cracker storms rolled through, I was a bit sad that I didn’t have anybody to stop and watch them with.

28 February – My Dad is home from hospital at last! And – has anybody noticed how many butterflies there are around at the moment?! (No photos, but here’s one of the sunset instead – pretty spectacular I thought!).

29 February – It’s a leap year! Saturdays are for cleaning house, then the kids came over to hang out.

So that was our February, what a mixture of emotions – excited about the new cars, impending nuptials, and our wedding anniversary trip; worried about dad; and some great relaxing times at the beach and just hanging with out kids.

What were the highlights of the month for you?!

Love the new cars! I have a soft spot for BMWs. Hubby bought me Becky, an older BMW for driving round the burbs, when we moved down here. I love her, even though she’s a bit high maintenance.(Lucky hubby is a mechanic!! )
It was my baby girl’s 12th bday on the 27th. Time is flying!

I might be a middle aged woman, but that doesn't mean I've lost all interest in looking stylish! I live in Brisbane, Australia, and I'm learning how to fashion a new life now that we have an empty nest - did somebody say "travel"?!
