A Sentence A Day – January 2020

A Sentence a Day

Hello! I hope that 2020 has been good to you so far; I for one certainly can’t complain.

With the world so full of heartache and tragedy of late – drought and bushfires here in Australia, the coronavirus outbreak, many companies going belly up and people losing their jobs – it kinda makes my little life seem very trivial and insignificant, y’know?

Yet at the same time I am so grateful that for our family at least, everyday life continues as normal …

January – A lazy New Year’s Day. I gave the husbear Season 2 of The Orville on DVD for Christmas, so we watched the first couple of episodes together (if you are a sci-fi fan – enjoy Star Trek, Red Dwarf or the like, you’ll love The Orville as much as we do!).

January – Miss 23 is still on holidays from work so we indulged in a bit of retail therapy, I came home with a floral tshirt from H & M and the cute dress (below) from Dangerfield.

January – Did some dusting, washing and the grocery shopping, and then the husbear cooked up a BBQ dinner which we enjoyed out on the deck.

January – Time to put all the Christmas decorations away. In the evening all the kids came over and we ended up playing poker until late!

January – The husbear and I went for a wander around the local Sunday markets, where he bought me some earrings and a wind chime as early birthday presents.

January – Back to work for the husbear 🙁 and although I’m not “officially” back at work myself until next week, I did spend a couple of hours at my desk.

January – Somebody in our house had a birthday!!!! I enjoyed a bit of pampering with a reflexology foot massage, got my hair done, and we went out for dinner with all the kids. Oh, and I was spoiled rotten with lots of wonderful presents!

January – The neighbours who own the acreage behind us are away on holidays, we are keeping an eye on their four sheep, chickens and ducks while they are away. Oh, and the dishwasher is leaking water everywhere … what the!

January –  I had some promotional calendars printed, so today I hand-delivered them as a gift (with a letter tucked inside) to some businesses I am particularly interested in working with.

January – The husbear and I went on an ice cream date. I chose a scoop of salted honey, and a scoop of peanut butter and chocolate – divine – but very messy!

January – Miss 23’s wedding dress has had some alterations done so went with her to the fitting in the morning. Later in the day, Miss Fleur dragged her lead over to us, miaowing, to tell us that she wanted to go for a walk out on the grass. What a clever kitty!

January – The husbear and I visited some display homes, afterwards we popped in to see Mr 25 and his cat Seth.

January – First official day back at work for 2020 – I do love what I do, but after the relaxed pace of the last three weeks the struggle is real!

January – My workday included a Zoom conference, writing some web content for a pest control company, catching up on emails, and a Facebook live on my business page (I’ve started sharing SEO tips and information for business owners every Tuesday).

January – Hello rain, I’d almost forgotten what you looked like!

January – Met up with another Brisbane SEO Consultant to discuss ways we could work together, love talking shop 🙂 .

January – Finished my latest puzzle, isn’t it cute (although it looks like I’ve lost a couple of pieces already, oops)?

January – Was a tad dismayed by how dark my hair went after trying a different colour, hopefully it fades quickly!

January – Sundays are for nanna naps. However I also did the grocery shopping and mowed the lawn (after the rain it’s actually green and growing!) … husbear does the vacuuming as I hate it, but I quite enjoy mowing.

January – A friend invited me over for a swim, afterwards we sat on her back patio watching a big storm roll through.

January – I got the bus to my ophthalmologist appointment as I thought I would need another eye injection, but was very relieved to learn that I didn’t need one today!

January – We’re getting the exterior of the house painted, today was the first day! Not much progress to be seen though as today was all cleaning and prep work.

January – First meetup of my business mastermind/coaching group for 2020, I always get so much out of it but here’s one gem I’ll share with you: when it comes to booking appointments, meetings etc in your diary for the week, “fill from the middle” ie Wednesday. It really does help organise and structure the working week!

January – Miss 23 and her man visited and I made enchiladas (her favourite) for dinner.

January – The husbear and I made a quick trip to Ikea, afterwards we picked up our new couch. So comfy!

January – Australia Day, and also a belated birthday catch up with my Dad and stepmum at a local historic home (Ormiston House, one of the oldest homes in Queensalnd – dates back to 1861) and shared a devonshire tea.

January – Monday public holiday for Australia Day, the kids came over and we went to Twelve Boar for dinner.

January – Our internet connection was painfully s-l-o-w all day. I eventually worked out that the cord to the modem had been pulled loose when the husbear was moving some furniture around on the weekend ….

January – Started a new puzzle and was puzzled to find it was actually nothing like the picture on the box, LOL. It was supposed to be pretty mosaic lanterns but even though I’ve only done the border, it’s clearly a picture of hot air balloons!

January – Business mastermind group (normally fortnightly but we squeezed an extra one in after the Christmas break), and a trip to the doctor in the afternoon. My blood pressure finally seems to be behaving itself which is good news 🙂 .

January – The house painting continues … should be finished mid next week. Here you can see the previous insipid pink on the front, and the bold new paint colour on the side (Woodland Grey, with trims and garage door in Surf Mist – both are Colourbond colours).

And that’s a wrap!

Is anybody else feeling like I am, and wondering how the first month of 2020 can be gone already?!
