A Sentence A Day – March 2018

pros and cons of working from home

In my last entry for A Sentence A Day in February, I’d had a BCC and a mole removed from my face by a plastic surgeon.

I wore steri-strips for nearly 4 weeks while the wounds healed and am now bandage free, and it’s looking pretty good. The scar on my forehead (from the mole) has practically disappeared already. The scar from the BCC on my cheek is a lot bigger but healing well – see pic below.

Anyway … time has marched on since then so it’s time for me to look back on March 2018!

March – I mostly rested today after the procedure yesterday, and caught up on some blog reading – I think the most energetic thing I did was my monthly invoicing.

March – Thanks to the wonders of the interwebs I’ve met another local copywriter online – today we met in real life for the first time and caught up over a cuppa at a local cafe.

March – My dad and stepmum visited us today for afternoon tea, before they head off on their holiday to Adelaide to take in the Adelaide festival (they are a pair of jetsetters!).

March – Being a rare Sunday when Mr 23 didn’t have to work, he talked me into watching one of his favourite movies with him (Pan’s Labyrinth, it’s Spanish with English subtitles) – it was pretty cool.

March – Last month Miss 21 upgraded her phone so I bought her old iPhone 6, and today I ordered 2 new covers online for under $10 including delivery (much better than the $40 the shop up the road wanted!).

March – I often listen to a podcast (current faves: Problogger or Flying Solo) while on my morning walk, and was very motivated by this morning’s message – at the end of each day I want to ask myself, “What gave me energy today?”

March – Some terrible news today.

March – Still struggling to get my head around the bad news from yesterday.

March – Miss 21 had a small medical procedure yesterday so I popped in to visit and brought her some flowers.

March – When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping – I came home with a couple of dresses, some earrings and a necklace 🙂 .

March – Wished my stepmum a happy birthday (they’re still in Adelaide); otherwise a quiet Sunday.

March – Delighted to see a fairy ring on my walk this morning – yes it’s been raining a lot.

March – Have been feeling very tense and sore through my shoulders and neck so with my regular massage therapist on holidays, I tried one of those Asian places which seem to have popped up in every shopping centre. NEVER AGAIN, it was the most painful massage of my life!

March – Really wrestled with one of my jobs today, even though all I had to write was a dozen brief descriptions. Don’t be fooled – just because something looks short and sweet, doesn’t mean that it was easy to write!

March – Mr 23 has been doing some drawing, which he showed me today – he definitely didn’t get that talent from me!

March – Had a great time at the Australian VA Conference where I was a presenter as well as an attendee, my talk was received well although I struggled with nerves. And, I was losing my voice by the end of the day (working at home I don’t get to talk much so my vocal cords complain when I give them a bit of a workout at an event like this!).

March – Hubster and I had a great night out at Menopause the Musical.

March – I have so much work on at the moment that I chose to work on Sunday afternoon, gave me a good head start on the week ahead.

March – Our lovely Miss 21 and her man invited us over for dinner, always enjoy spending time with them (and the grandkitties too).

March – Even though I’m swamped with work this week, I managed to squeeze in a fruit and veg shop as we were desperate (although hubster does the grocery shopping, he seems to be allergic to fruit and veg shopping, LOL).

March – Went to the local Chamber of Commerce business breakfast as I haven’t been to one since last year – but it confirmed in my mind that I really should stick to the functions with topics that actually interest me 😉 .

March – Was excited to receive a book in the mail which I ordered at the VA conference (the speaker ran out of stock on the day) – but ants had invaded the package and I ended up with them all over my desk (and me)!

March – Chillaxed with a Friday night BBQ in our backyard – good times.

March – Hubby and I decided to check out the Golden Circle outlet store at Capalaba, and came home with some great bargains – but the best part was we stocked our pantry, fridge and freezer with items we would never normally buy, so nice to have a bit of a change!

March – Relaxed with my latest jigsaw puzzle, and some blogging.

March – I made braised steak and onions in the slow cooker, but decided it needed more flavour so I added 1/2 packet of French Onion soup mix, and a sachet of tomato paste – absolutely DIVINE!

March – My ankle hasn’t been quite right ever since I twisted it wearing high heels to a funeral about a year ago, so I saw my friendly local podiatrist – and he FIXED it (worth a blog post on its own so keep an eye out)!

March – Dinner with family at the Redland Sporting Club “all-you-can-eat” restaurant tonight – soooooo full ….

March – Mama Suzie (the lady who fostered Miss Fleur until we adopted her) took me to the Cat Cuddle Cafe for the afternoon, what a lovely way to wind down to the Easter break.

March – Absolutely exhausted, spent most of Good Friday flaked out on the couch – zzzzzzzzzz.

March – Made a cheesecake and my famous brown rice salad to take to a family lunch for Easter tomorrow.

I must remember to take more photos of everyday events next month, I didn’t have many to choose from this time around. So how was your March?
