A Sentence A Day – May 2018

A Sentence a Day

And just like that, the calendar has flicked over to June and winter has arrived with a chilly blast.

I’ve been faithfully continuing with my sentence a day project – albeit breaking the rules by sometimes writing TWO sentences (such a rebel!) – hope you don’t mind, and still enjoy this roundup of my May days.

May – In talks about being an upcoming guest on a podcast for women in business … stay tuned!

May – Time to renew my membership to The Clever Copywriting School, I’ve been umming and ahhing about it but decided to sign on for another year – after all, landing just one client through the directory will pay for my membership.

May – Went to a Women’s Network Australia meeting a bit further afield today, at Toowong, as I love learning more about digital marketing AND I thought it would be excellent preparation for giving my own presentation at the North Lakes meeting next week!

May – Headed to our latest local attraction, Chefs Inc, a much smaller version of Brisbane’s popular Eat St Markets, with the family.

May – Our 28th wedding anniversary, so away for a romantic weekend at Wallaby Ridge Retreat in the Gold Coast hinterland.

May – This is the life – enjoying a spa and watching the sun set.

May – Although sad to come home after such a lovely weekend, we got to try out hubby’s anniversary gift to me – a swing chair in the garden – just the spot for cosy cuppas together!

May – Blog life: I was sent a couple of cute eyeshadows to review, makes it a bit difficult when they arrive in this sort of condition 🙁 .

May – Miss 21 cooked a yummy dinner for us and afterwards we played Monopoly for the first time in years … Delilah was very interested! Also, really happy to see they’ve replaced the iron token with … a CAT!

May – Loved presenting “Demystifying SEO” at WNA North Lakes today, followed by lunch – first in real life meeting  with a marketing agency I work with on a regular basis.

May – I’d booked to go to the Brisbane South Small Business Expo at Mt Gravatt but was feeling worn out after yesterday – still, gave myself a big kick up the backside and went anyway. So glad I did, made some valuable contacts (it’s all about networking!).

May – Birthday celebrations for my Dad’s 75th with a family lunch at his boat club; and for Mr 24 in the evening.

May – The kids spoiled me with a pair of black knee high boots, and another mug for my collection of “mum” mugs (a bit of a family joke, as a few years back I whinged I didn’t have any – now they are making up for lost time).

May – Hubby was home sick – funnily enough I hardly got any work done!

May – Ditto.

May – My neck and shoulders have been very tight and sore so I was really looking forward to a massage today – although wonderful as always, in the evening I felt terribly dizzy – have never had that side effect before!

May – After work, hubster and I relaxed by watching some of our fave show, Star Trek: The Next Generation in the recliners in the media room (I gave him the complete series on DVD for his birthday a few years’ back and we still haven’t watched them all!).

May – Friday evening BBQ in the backyard.

May – A quick trip to the shops, had to exchange a couple of the items we’d given Mr 24 for his birthday as they were the wrong size (he’d requested business wear so we gave him 2 shirts, 2 pairs of trousers, a tie, a belt, and a pair of shoes). Thankfully Target doesn’t need the receipt as I couldn’t find it anywhere – which is not like me at all!

May – Spent the day in Toowoomba visiting family – pic taken on the drive home.

May – Finished my latest puzzle, it was quite challenging because most of the pieces were very dark.

May – Now that the BCC on my face has been removed and the skin is all healed up, I was able to treat myself to my first facial in months. Bliss!

May – You know it’s been a bit of a boring day when the only thing you can think to write down is that we had spaghetti for dinner LOL.

May

May – It was hubster’s RDO but I still had a mountain of work to do, so he went op shopping without me – but I forgave him as he came home with 4 new puzzles for me, for $4!

May – Hubster had a couple of mates over for a barbie, and they enjoyed sitting around a “campfire” – the brazier in the backyard, even though it wasn’t really cold, while I amused myself with one of my new puzzles!

May – The family was very happy when I made Maltese pastizzi for dinner, filled with a curried cheese mixture.

May – Several weeks ago I did an interview with a journalist about being estranged from my mum, and this morning it was published on news.com.au – the first I knew of it was when I started receiving all these emails and private messages from people who’d been touched by it.

May – Started watching a new series on SBS “Back in Time for Dinner”, a reality show about a family that lives in a different time period each week, with a focus on the food – this week it was the 50’s. Tripe and boiled cabbage – um, no thanks. No wonder the little girl cried!

May – Hubster and I watched “Swinging Safari” on DVD, a recent Australian film set in the 1970’s and starring Kylie Minogue, Guy Pierce and a number of other well-known Aussie actors. We enjoyed the nostalgia of it all – so many memories from our childhoods – but other than that it was pretty ordinary.

May – Today I presented on “Blogging for Business” at the Boss Lady Club‘s Lunch & Learn at Wynnum, what a great event! I really enjoyed meeting other women in business, and sharing my knowledge with them.

Now it’s your turn – what was the highlight / lowlight of your month?!
