A Sentence A Day – May 2020

may was the month of fleur

Looking over this blog post, I’m beginning to think I should rename it to “The Month of Miss Fleur” … you’ll soon see what I mean 😉 .

Still, with Covid restrictions very much in place, there really wasn’t much else of note to photograph.

May – Big smiles from these two, despite the fact that today should have been their BIG DAY and they should have been wearing their finery and in a wedding car – thanks a lot Covid-19!

May – Saturdays are for sleep ins, snuggling with my kitty, and the kids to come hang at our place.

May – We visited my Dad, hopefully he will be able to leave rehab and go home by the middle of the month.

May – The husbear did some yard work for my parents so it will be nice and tidy for when Dad comes home.

May – Our 30th wedding anniversary! We were supposed to be in Melbourne to see the Harry Potter play but it’s been postponed til October. So we made do with a candle lit dinner thanks to Menulog and our favourite Thai restaurant.

May – Here’s a cute pic of Miss Fleur and Sophie sitting in my office, watching us work.

May – The Prime Minister announced that Coronavirus restrictions are set to ease, a lot earlier than expected.

May – I went to the shops for the first time in ages to get a few (non-grocery) items, many of the stores are still closed so my choices were pretty much limited to Kmart and Target. Miss Fleur enjoyed playing with the plastic bag when I got home.

May – It might have been Saturday but I spent most of the day online, ordering items to give our bedroom a makeover.  Oh, and I finished my Harry Potter puzzle – it took 11 days it was so tricky!

May – A Mother’s Day visit from Miss 23 and her man.

May – It’s getting cooler – time to wear my new bed socks and PJs (Mother’s Day gifts).

May – Our son’s birthday (he’s now Mr 26)! It’s the first time we haven’t seen him on his birthday, as he flew the nest late last year. It’s also my Dad’s birthday and he was very happy to finally be discharged after three months in hospital and rehab. Oh, and I had my first session with my new personal trainer!

May –  The new coverlet and our Ikea flat packs were delivered today – exciting!

May – After work, I started putting our new bedside tables together, a bit like a 3D jigsaw puzzle. Miss Fleur helped.

May – My stepmum had a medical appointment, so the husbear and I took Dad out for a coffee – still takeaway only, but we sat outside and enjoyed the city views.

May – Mr 26 visited and we gave him his pressies; and I finally finished the bedside table building project.

May – The bedside tables are in place, and the husbear assembled our new dresser. Afterwards he cooked a BBQ for lunch while I relaxed!

May – Off to the doctor for a flu jab (thankfully it didn’t swell up and ache for days afterwards like it did last year).

May – The husbear and I were distracted from our work by the noise of a chainsaw – the neighbours were getting all the trees and shrubs in their front yard pulled out.

May – The last of my online decor spending spree arrived, I’m going to miss having parcels turning up regularly, it’s been fun! I think Miss Fleur approves of the new coverlet …

May – While we were both hard at work at our computers, somebody found a sunny spot out on the deck (see pic below) … when we finished work for the day I was feeling stressed because it’s been very busy, so the hubster lit some candles in our bathroom and turned the shower on for me – I felt so cherished 🙂 .

May – A bunch of local business owners held a virtual happy hour tonight to celebrate the easing of Covid-19 restrictions – here’s the pic I posted on social media with the hashtag #toastredlands!

May – Brrrrr! The coldest May day in over 50 years apparently. In the evening we crashed on the couch with the old quilt cover to keep us warm as we watched TV, and Fleur also found a warm spot where the quilt was trailing on the floor (she’s not allowed on the lounge).

May – The husbear pulled out our stash of home videos to see if he could get any of them working – the kids would love to see the tapes from when they were babies – but we weren’t having any luck 🙁 . Luckily we still have the original compact video cassettes they were recorded on, will have to get them converted to digital I think!

May – Our first experience of buying our groceries with “Click and Collect”. Clearly grocery supplies aren’t back to normal yet as a few items on my list weren’t available at all, while we received substitute versions for quite a few products.

May – I had an appointment at the eye specialist, no needle though thankfully. Next checkup is in 3 months’ time.

May – One of the benefits of both of us working from home – taking a break for a BBQ for lunch!

May – I’m reading a lovely book at the moment, “The Avalon Ladies Scrapbooking Society” by Darien Gee.

May – My second session with my personal trainer; and the husbear finished giving our kitchen stools a makoever, don’t they look great?! I posted pics in the Kmart Home Decor & Hacks Australia page on Facebook and he was chuffed to get over 1000 likes! (He cut up the Kmart fake cowhide rug to upholster the stools.)

May – Things are feeling almost back to normal, being a Saturday I went to the shops for a bit of retail therapy and bought a few tops – it’s really hard though as we can’t try anything on. Meanwhile the husbear set up one of the spare bedrooms with our old bedroom furniture which we bought as newlyweds, 30 years ago. “Is my room now,” says Miss Fleur!

May – You know you’ve “made it” on social media when somebody steals your photos to set up a fake account (see below), apparently I’m a sugarmummy?! The idiot then had the cheek to follow me, needless to say I reported it straight away …

As May draws to a close the world is gradually waking up from its Corona Coma. Here in Australia we have been very fortunate that authorities acted early and to stem the outbreak.

So I am looking forward to hopefully having more fun and outings to report to you when it comes time to do A Sentence A Day for June 2020!
