A Sentence A Day – October 2018

Janet Camilleri · 06/11/2018 ·

What a crazy month October has been!

sentence a day october 2018

We’re still not in the new house, however things are definitely progressing – for details, just keep reading about the month that was, in just a sentence a day …

1 October – The in-laws made the two hour trip to visit, and check out our new house.

2 October – I have no idea what happened on this day, as all I’ve written in my diary is “too darn tired” LOL.

3 October – Planted out the vegetable seedlings which my in-laws kindly brought (my father-in-law has a vege garden too), including zucchini, wombok, broccoli and corn.

4 October – Caught up with a friend at Indigiscapes, for a walk through the native gardens, followed by lunch. I particularly enjoyed my mango guava and lychee granita – even if it was served with a metal straw which put my teeth on edge!

5 October – Went to an office-warming party for a client in the evening (which inspired the post “When You Wear the Wrong Outfit“) – it looked like we were in for a storm but luckily it fizzled out. I’d much rather watch a good lightning show from the comfort of my own home!

6 October – My Bear and I had a “sleepover”, and camped out at the new house just to see what it was like!

7 October – A spot of gardening, with Miss Fleur helping me in the vegie patch.

8 October – Went out for dinner with my parents at our “local”, followed by coffee and a tour of the new house 😉

9 October – Would you believe we finally got our pergola tiled at our current house – we’ve had the tiles for probably two years but just never got around to it – why do we only ever get these things done just before we sell?!

10 October – Attended the Women’s Network Power Brunch and was excited to win a copy of the book, “Good Girls Do Sell!” thanks to Janeen Vosper from Speech Perfect 🙂 .

11 October – Lunch meeting with a woman from my old church, she’s started a charity and has hired me to write the profile.

12 October – Hubster’s RDO so we had an appointment with our accountant to get our tax done. The sad news is – no refunds for us – this year we both have to pay tax! Boo hoo.

13 October – Don’t faint with shock – but today I cleaned the oven in preparation for putting our house on the market!

14 October – We went tin pin bowling as a family to celebrate the 25th birthday of Miss 21’s man.

15 October – Painting has begun at the new house!

16 October – Headed to the Bayside Women in Business meeting at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in Manly.

17 October – Mr 24’s last uni exam – celebrated with Thai takeaway, which we ate out on the patio at the new house!

18 October – On my walk this morning I was pleased to catch up with this family of ducks – the babies have grown up so much! – and couldn’t help but admire all the lovely jacaranda trees in bloom in my neighbourhood.

19 October – Even though work is crazy busy, I was really glad to take time out for coffee with a good friend and her adorable shih-tzu / maltese cross, Coco. Oh, and Miss 21 and her man casually announced their engagement (which you can read all about in my post, “They’re Engaged!“) …

20 October – The kidults came over to show us Miss 21’s beautiful engagement ring, and to share their plans with us.

21 October – Oh the trials of temporarily owning two homes – I had to mow two yards today before a storm came through! And after the storm – I was rewarded with this pretty rainbow.

22 October – I was feeling a bit sick and dizzy after lunch so had to lie down for a while, luckily Miss Fleur was there to play nursemaid 😉 .

23 October – Crazy busy with work – but that’s a good thing, right?!

24 October – Ditto!

25 October – An early start, as I caught the train to be in the city for a workshop for 8.30am. So good to chat to other attendees about SEO stuff!

26 October – With uni done and dusted, Mr 24 has begun job hunting in earnest. Today he was invited for four interviews next week!

27 October – A trip to the library. I would go crazy without a pile of books to read, so love getting my “fix” at my local library.

28 October – The “getting ready to go on the market” work continues, today I did some touch ups on the paint and more cleaning … will it ever end?!

29 October – Good news, Mr 24 received notification that he has passed all his subjects and will graduate in December with a Bachelor of Commerce.

30 October – Mr 24 very excited to be called back for a second interview … fingers crossed.

31 October – So there I was, minding my own business on my morning walk when suddenly I was thumped in the ear. I turned around to discover a butcher bird had swooped me! I thought only magpies did that? Needless to say I won’t be walking that way again for a while!

As I write this, we are in the process of arranging for new carpet, and having air conditioners installed at the new house so I estimate another two weeks before we make the big move? That will bring it very close to Miss 21’s birthday which is quite funny as we moved into this house just in time for her 13th birthday, 9 years ago!

What’s been happening in your neck of the woods over the past month?!

Wow! You certainly pack a lot into 31 days! Best of luck with the house selling & moving. Hmmm, how will your cats go relocating?
