Welcome to the October edition of “A Sentence A Day”!
Last month I left you on a bit of a cliff-hanger, as I was booked for an urgent appointment with an ophthalmologist due to some problems with my right eye. So I won’t keep you in suspense any longer, here’s what happened when I saw the specialist the next day …
1 October – I’ve been diagnosed with macula oedema/retinal occlusion, which basically means my high blood pressure has given me gnarly, knotted up blood vessels and swelling in my retina. Treatment will involve a needle in my eye (I’m told it sounds a lot worse than it is!), with the first one booked for next month.
2 October – Went to a breakfast meeting to learn more about Pinterest for Business, with Anne from The Blog Coach and Domesblissity. It was extra interesting for me as Anne and I met through blogging circles about six years ago, we’ve both come a long way since then!
3 October – Headed out to a business mastermind meeting, which I attend every couple of weeks. It’s very practical and I always go home with new steps I can implement to make my business run more smoothly and prepare to expand. It’s about working ON my business, not just IN it (and always good to catch up with others on the same journey)!
4 October – I’ve been treating a plantar wart on my foot with some stuff from the chemist, it was really sore and I could barely walk, so I booked into the doctor where it was scraped to relieve the pressure – ahhhh that’s better!
5 October – It’s a long weekend for the Queen’s Birthday so we went away again in the motorhome. Found this great website called “Youcamp” where you can book to stay on people’s properties and found a lovely country property to visit …
6 October – Made friends with a horse in the next paddock, and had some fun flying a kite when the wind picked up. Nature put on a gorgeous show with this sunset, which we enjoyed while sipping a Moscato. This is the life!
7 October – Time to head home, we stopped at the famous Yatala Pies (which was doing a roaring trade) for lunch.
8 October – A semi-trailer clipped Mr 25’s car as he was on the way to work, it pushed him along the road and spun him right around into facing traffic. I had the shakes after the husbear rang to tell me, how scary. Fortunately our boy is A-OK, but his car will probably be written off.
9 October – Conducted an SEO workshop for local small business owners – here they all are, hard at work!
10 October – Busy day of working at my desk, though I did stop long enough to make some toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches for lunch (and sent this pic to Miss 22 to make her jealous, LOL).
11 October – The husbear had an RDO so we went to our local accountant and had our tax returns done – it was quite gratifying to see how much my business has prospered since last financial year!
12 October – It might have been Saturday but alas, so much work to be done – so I spent the day at my desk, trying to get on top of a few things.
13 October – We took the kids out for dinner at the local sporting club to celebrate our almost son-in-law’s birthday. I had a good feeling about a certain pokie machine – and would you believe I ended up winning $50 (after putting just $5 in)!
14 October – I took some photos of some of the homewares that we used to stage our last house for sale, and don’t have room for here, and listed them on Facebook Marketplace.
15 October – Had about half a dozen people come to buy various items, and was happy to have nearly $400 in my purse by the end of the day.
16 October – Today I worked on some web content for a pest control company. Certainly plenty of variety in my work!
17 October – Mastermind meeting in the morning, in the afternoon Miss 22 asked me to accompany her to a specialist consultation. Afterwards we had a cup of tea at her place, did some colouring, played with the kitties and watched a storm roll in.
18 October – I can tell school swimming carnival season has started – we live near the local pool and I could hear the cheering as I worked!
19 October – There was no rain forecast (which is pretty much the norm these days) so I didn’t take an umbrella to run some errands, only to be confronted with this. What is this grey wet stuff falling from the sky?!
20 October – Went for a Sunday drive to visit the in-laws and on the way back tried out the new Toowoomba bypass road – pretty impressive and definitely made for a quicker trip!
21 October – Today I wrote two email newsletters for clients. I love writing and preparing newsletters!
22 October – It was the premiere of the Australian version of one of my favourite TV programmes, “One Born Every Minute”. I’m always moved by the miracle of new life!
23 October – It’s jacaranda season! Look at this beauty which I passed on my morning walk.
24 October – When I finished work for the day, I noticed Miss Fleur had left some blood on my desk where she’d been sitting – when I looked more closely I realised she’d injured her tail. Eventually I worked out that she must have got her tail caught when the wind blew the front door closed, while I was out checking the mailbox – ouch! Poor kitty 🙁 .
25 October – A trip to the city today to see another specialist about my eye. Afterwards I met up with one of my sisters for lunch.
26 October – Such tricker-ers! We knew Miss 22 and her fiancé were looking at a car but they told us they didn’t get it. Well, today they turned up with Miss 22’s first car, a mini! After that my girl and I went looking for an outfit for me to wear to her wedding.
27 October – I went back and bought my Mother of the Bride dress (you can read more here) – when I showed pics to the husbear last night, he loved it and insisted I had to buy it!
28 October – This afternoon I got the bus to meet up with Mr 25 (as we’ve lent him my car temporarily), to help him pick up his new car. How is it both my kids now have better cars than I do?!
29 October – Today I went to a pricing workshop. This is one of the hardest things about having your own business, trying to work out your prices and convince your clients that you are absolutely worth it – as you can see I’m not alone in the struggle!
30 October – Looks like that stubborn plantar wart has finally disappeared, hooray.
31 October – We had a bowl of goodies ready for Halloween in case we got any trick or treaters, but didn’t get any callers. Oh well, guess we will get to enjoy them now!
And so endeth the month of October! Spring is such a lovely time, with all the flowers in bloom and I love the scent of jasmine in the air – and it’s not too hot and humid (yet).
I’m curious to know – which tidbit was most interesting to you, from this month’s Sentence A Day?!
Thanks for the mention Janet. It was great to catch up with you again too. It had been too long. Hope to see more of you around the Redlands.
Anne xx
Always enjoy your blogs. Such a happy well lived life. Keep it up.
Love anything to do with weddings?
And wow look at those cars!!
Sorry to hear about your eye. I have regular specialist appointments for my eyes…so many, ops, procedures etc for various problems…hate it as I can’t stand anything near my eyes, so really feel for you. ?
Comments are back, woohoo!!! I love the longer entries for this rather than just a single sentence a day. Love all the pictures too… especially the ones of me hehe x
