A Sentence A Day – October 2020

early morning walk

Do you know what’s scarier than Halloween?

The fact that it’s now November!!!!!

And that means it’s time for the next exciting edition of “A Sentence A Day” …

1 October – I got a surprise at my business coaching group this morning – we had a visitor and it turned out to be someone I knew! I knew this young lady about 15 years ago when she was still in high school, through my work. What a delight to catch up!

2 October – And on Fridays, I walk. Trying to build up a morning walk habit again, it’s good for body and soul!

3 October – Our boy came over, we chilled out with takeaway pizza and watched Birds of Prey: and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn on Netflix. Not my choice, but I ended up enjoying it!

4 October – I made a lasagne and Miss 23 and her fiance came for dinner. They’d been to Ikea to get something and while they were there bought me the mirror I’d been wanting for our bedroom (now just to get the husbear to hang it up!).

5 October – A public holiday for the Queen’s birthday so we visited my dad and stepmum. It’s so good to see him at home.

6 October – I’m stepping up my business coaching from group sessions to one-on-one, as my business is at a critical point (getting ready to expand) and I know I need help to make that happen! First session today.

7 October – First breakfast networking event in months!

8 October – The joys of having heart disease in the family, high blood pressure and high cholesterol … this pic is of the medication I have to take each morning. There’s more at night. Sigh.

9 October – Friday morning walk before work. The cat beds I’d ordered from Facebook arrived – yeah nah, not impressed. Nothing like the picture as you can see … and, the online store no longer exists. Putting in a claim with Paypal.

10 October – Mr 26 came over and we all went for a walk to the local op shop, and stopped off for some sushi nom nom nom. Oh and I cleaned out the linen cupboard!

11 October – Grocery shopping. Wrote a blog post. And I’ve written a note in my diary “cruising storm show” and I have no idea what it means LOL.

12 October – The kids have introduced us to the show Brooklyn 99 so the husbear and I binge watched the first season …

13 October – My personal trainer brought me a home made biscsuit! Now that’s a great PT 😉 . We went for dinner to celebrate our almost son-in-law’s birthday which is later this week.

14 Octtober – The husbear made spaghetti for dinner yum yum.

15 October – Mastermind group, and the husbear saw the doctor about some troubling symptoms.

16 October – The husbear joined me on my regular Friday morning walk. I didn’t take my phone so although I got him to snap a pic, it’s very ordinary as he is still using an iPhone 5!

17 October – I’ve been nominated for a business award! When I first heard the category though I was puzzled: “innovation and technology”. What do I do that’s particularly innovative or technological? But the more I thought about it, the more I realised that actually, I *do* do SEO differently …

18 October – I’d been moaning that none of my clothes fitted so the husbear took me shopping at Garden City. While we were there we couldn’t help but notice how crowded it was – social distancing? What social distancing?! Here’s a pic of the loot I brought home, surprisingly all of it came from Big W except the top top!

19 October – Miss Fleur is feeling like top cat, as she has a box to play with.

20 October – A good cardio workout with my PT – she’s introduced me to boxing! I was really excited to see what it looked like on my fitbit – but would you believe I forgot to put it on after my shower this morning?!

21 October – I made some date balls.

22 October – Learned that I’ve made it through to the next stage in the awards – I’ll be interviewed by the judges via Zoom next week!

23 October – A fun night of networking with the Redland Women in Business, at a “drink and draw” event. Here are a couple of my best pics, along with the models … I reckon I’ve managed to capture quite a good likeness!

24 October – The husbear is away for the weekend so I was determined to put together my social media calendar for my business (I’d love it if you followed my Front Page Web Writing Facebook and Instagram accounts) for the rest of the year but alas, the creative juices refused to flow. I managed about 3 weeks’ worth of posts though, which is better than nothing! In the afternoon, the first storm of the season swept through.

25 October – Another storm, though we got off lightly in my area. I was very cross with myself though as when I popped out to get some milk, I managed to scrape the car when reversing … grrr. Seriously, sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve a nice car!

26 October – Trying to get another walk into my week … so set out for my first Monday walk. The jacaranda trees are spectacular at this time of year!

27 October – Zoom Interview with the judging panel – I think it went well, at the end they thanked me for a “great” interview – that’s gotta be a good sign right? I’m now allowed to share that I am an “Awardee of Merit” in the Greater Brisbane Women in Business awards! More storms across the afternoon and evening. And here’s a pic of Miss Fleur I took in the morning …

28 October – My online grocery shop was delivered in the afternoon, thankfully before another lot of storms hit!

29 October – Headed off to my business mastermind group in the morning, and as you can see, my new clothes are already coming in very handy! In the evening watched an interesting show on Victorian slums in London’s east end – where my grandmother lived as a child.

30 October – Business meeting over lunch. Mr 26 came  over for dinner, then I had to work until late (end of month I always seem to be rushing to get everything done!).

31 October – Miss 23 and I felt the need for a Kmart fix! While we were in the shops we could hear thunder, and saw the lights flicker a couple of time, but other than that we completely missed the the severe hail storms which lashed the area (luckily I’d parked in the underground carpark!).

Hmmmm there seems to be a lot of pics of food in this update, which might be why I needed some new clothes. Whoops.

In many ways, our lives are almost back to normal despite the threat of coronavirus. Have to say, I am feeling extremely blessed to live in one of the best cities/states in the world in the midst of the pandemic. The lucky country indeed!

Let’s just hope we manage to keep it that way in the months ahead until a vaccine is found …

If food was the focus of my October – what was it for you?!
