September was a bit of a funny month – funny strange, not funny haha.
We lent our second car to Miss 21 and her man while theirs was fixed so if I wanted to go anywhere I had to either walk or get the bus, which limited my gadding about; and we’ve been in the thick of preparations to sell this house, and move into the new one. As a result there hasn’t been much time for R&R … just trying to take one day at a time, and looking forward to settling into our new home in another month or so.
September – Family dinner. Who needs to go to a restaurant when you cook your own steak at the table at home?! Afterwards we went to Baskin Robbins for dessert 🙂
September – It’s spring so the perfect time to do some gardening – mostly pruning.
September – A mix of good and bad today – the good was when my sweet husband gave me some flowers, the bad was when I broke a tooth while eating dinner and I also broke my favourite pair of sunnies!
September – Tonight I made chicken satay for dinner. Nothing so unusual about that but for the first time ever I made it from scratch – so simple I’ll never buy a jar/packet mix ever again!
September – That embarrassing moment when you bump into a client at the local shops when you are on your morning walk (and haven’t even brushed your hair or your teeth!).
September – Got a bit of a fright when the dog next door turned up in our yard! Fortunately s/he was very friendly and didn’t resist when I grabbed his collar to take him home.
September – My broken tooth has been annoying me so I caved and book an appointment at the dentist.
September – Very pleased to have a long overdue haircut.
September – My turn to do the grocery shopping again – a lot of the prep for moving falls to the hubster so this is something I can take care of.
September – Spent an hour in the dentist’s chair getting my broken tooth fixed, and the old filling replaced – they were very nice even if I was freaking out!
September – Family dinner followed by a game of poker – I’ve never played before so had to be taught.
September – Catch up with clients today in the city.
September – Mr 24 was very relieved to have handed a major assignment in, so we celebrated with his favourite sushi (takeaway) for dinner.
September – Our new pillows arrived! (When we stayed at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat in July, I loved the pillows so much I asked if we could buy some!).
September – A big day of cleaning, including on top of the kitchen cupboards ugh. The plan is to get this house on the market in mid October, and move into the new one at the end of October … we will see, so much to be done!
September – Arranged for electricity to be put on at the new house.
September – Settlement day AND another trip to the dentist – the good news is I didn’t need any further fillings YAY!
September – My asparagus plant is finally growing spears! It’s been at least a year since it was planted. Just in time for us to move away … LOL
September – Coffee date with a friend at the Lighthouse Cafe on Cleveland Point.
September – Booked a painter to come and quote on getting the interior of the new house done before we move in (did I mention it’s an ex-rental so needs some TLC?)
September –
September – We realised the best way to handle the whole buying/selling/moving house project, was to rent a storage shed and got stuck into packing in a big way.
September – Hubby took 3 trailer loads to storage, while I stocked up on Kmart homewares to help with “styling” our house.
September – Organising more quotes – this time a tiler to fix a couple of broken floor tiles, and to lay the tiles (which we bought years ago) on the pergola FINALLY!
September – We were going to put the cat climber that hubster built, into storage, but then realised that we have 3 little grandkitties who might appreciate it. So we delivered it to Miss 21’s place. In return she made us a yummy dinner, and we had chocolate pizza for dessert!
September – I haven’t been out and about much lately as we lent our second car to the kids while theirs was fixed. Now I’ve got it back I was delighted to get out to visit a new (to me) networking group – Bayside Women in Business, where I learnt about planning my new home office space – can’t wait!
September – I’d booked to go to a WordPress meetup in the city today but realised I couldn’t really afford the time away from work – things always get busy at the end of the month.
September – While we are in the thick of preparations for moving, we’ve been trying Lite N Easy to save time and mess in the kitchen. This is the chargrilled lamb with spinach and pine nut salad – yummy!
September – Cleaning blinds, doors, cornices and architraves today. How exciting. Not.
September – More cleaning – and yes, I’m a bit over it. Still, I was impressed by the results on my kitchen stools – they look like brand new after I took to them with a magic eraser. I wonder what the “magic” ingredient in them is? Probably just bicarb of soda. Whatever – it works!
Probably not the most interesting of months for you to read about, and I think we are all getting a little tired and cranky – but hanging in there! Here’s hoping we get a quick sale on our house …
What was September like for you?
