I’ve never thought of myself as a person who would try Botox – it’s botulinum toxin after all! – but my views are changing. Here are three reasons why I’ve changed my mind about Botox …
Defeating Depression
I’m not quite sure how it works, but scientists have proven that there is a link between having Botox injected in your facial muscles, and an improvement in mood. It seems that if you can’t frown and look grumpy, you don’t get cranky and depressed.
Or maybe you just feel so good about looking younger and wrinkle free, that you just can’t be depressed? 😉
Stop the Sweats
People with severe perspiration problems – in their armpits, or on the palms of their hands or soles of their feet – have been finding that a Botox injection in the relevant area substantially reduces sweat production, and helps them to stay dry and sweet.
If I had severe sweating, I would definitely be trying this!
Hope for Hay Fever Sufferers
I’ve shared before about the trials of being a hay fever sufferer, and that although allergy injections have definitely made a dramatic improvement, they haven’t quite been a cure. I still need to use a preventative spray every day.
Then I stumbled across the news that Botox gel is now being tested as a possible preventative measure for hay fever. When applied to the inside of the nose, it deadens the nerves that are oh-so-sensitive – and therefore stops hay fever in it’s tracks for up to three months.
I’ve Changed my Mind about Botox
I have to say, I’m actually really looking forward to the day when this new hay fever treatment is commercially available! It’s definitely changed my mind about Botox.
It seems that it really is a case of what can be dangerous / poison in one instance, can be beneficial in others.
Have you changed your mind about Botox? Would you – or have you – used it for any of these other problems?!
Honestly, I don’t know if I would use it. Having said that I have had many years of battling with hayfever and if I could find a cure for it, I may change my mind !!!!
But to use it to stop frown lines or wrinkles, I wouldn’t spend my money on it – those lines are me and are there for a reason – whatever I have been through has made me what I am today and taking away those lines doesn’t change who I am and I really don’t give a rats butt about trying to look younger than I am – I am proud to say I am nearly 50 – it isn’t as though I can change it so I just embrace it !!!
Have the best weekend !

PS – YAY – looks like I got to comment !!!!!
Oh I’m so glad it decided to let you comment again!
I must admit I have the odd day where I do actually contemplate a little botox in my forehead area … although I’m told I *do* look younger than my age, I sometimes wonder what it would be like to “freshen up” a bit!
I’d like a freshen up too Janet! A little plumping here and there and a tug around the jawline … nice! But I’d like it to happen while I’m asleep! No, I don’t think (yet) I’ll go for Botox, although when the furrow between my brows is 1cm deep (it’s happening) I just might!!
Yes – it’s the furrow between my brows that I often smooth out in the mirror, and think how nice it would be if it just disappeared 😉
I’ve been getting Botox in my eyebrow furrow for ten years. Hey… I’m a teacher, we frown a lot! You know they’ve been giving it to kids with cerebral palsy for about thirty years in much larger doses than in cosmetic surgery. Lots of drugs are derived from deadly poisons 🙂
I was going to ask if you are happy with it, but if you’ve been getting it for 10 years obviously you are! I wonder if I will try it – I’m definitely interested …
Oh you don’t know how glad I am to read your blog post about Botox, I so want Botox, for tightening those slack muscles in my face.
I’m definitely tempted … I have a birthday coming up so you just never know …
