Has anybody else noticed changes to Bloglovin’?
Specifically – changes in their Bloglovin’ feed?
Just look at this:
Note that it now says it brings you (only) the TOP stories from the blogs you follow.
Noooooooooo!
It’s gone all Facebook and Instagram on me 🙁 .
Bloglovin’ has let us all down
Here’s the thing: If I follow somebody – whether it’s on Instagram, Facebook, or Bloglovin’ – it’s because I *WANT* to see their stuff. I don’t want the stupid platform to decide what I might – or might not – be interested in seeing!
So if I haven’t been round your blog lately, I do apologise. But I was relying on Bloglovin’ to let me know when you posted something – and they have let me down BIG TIME.
I only realised when I was catching up on a couple of weeks’ worth of Bloglovin’ emails, and one of my own blog posts randomly popped up in a Bloglovin’ email.
I thought it was weird, coz then I remembered that yes, I do follow myself (doesn’t everybody?!) and as I post 3 times a week … WHERE THE HELL HAD ALL MY OTHER POSTS GONE?!!!
Come to think of it, only moments earlier I’d only noticed one or two new posts from a couple of my favourite blogs – when I know they usually blog a lot more regularly. I figured, you know, life … it happens to us all at times … but now I knew the truth. Bloglovin’ wasn’t notifying me of ALL their latest posts!
Keeping up with your favourite blogs
Bloglovin’, you’ve changed. When did that happen?!
The good news for my favourite bloggers is that now I’m going to sign up for their own email newsletters, as it seems the only reliable way to follow them.
And if you enjoy Middle Aged Mama, I’d love it if you signed up for my own weekly email news! That way you will get a quick update of whatever I have posted in the last week, ready for you to click through if you want to read further.
Oh and as a bonus, when you sign up for my email news, you get to hear the latest chit-chat – the stuff I don’t put on the blog or Facebook or Instagram. It’s like a letter from a friend!
Re-claiming Wednesday!
My email news goes out each Wednesday – because I know Wednesday can be a real struggle – stuck right in the middle of the week! Conquer the Hump Day Blues, with my weekly email. From me to you, with love 🙂 .

Now tell me – what is your preferred way of following your favourite blogs? Or have you noticed the changes to Bloglovin’?!

Oh no, I was hoping they wouldn’t be all Facebooky and make our decisions for us. I’m a real newbie to Bloglovin’ and hadn’t figured that out yet, but must admit the thought crossed through my mind. If only they’d deliver what they promise, which is fresh feed as soon as it’s available, I’d be completely happy. Especially since I’m so new over there, it would take ages for mine to get to the top.

I loved Bloglovin’ so was really disappointed to notice this 🙁
Jo'Anne Griffiths says
I gave up using bloglovin a long time ago. Actually, I didn’t really use it much at the time, but about a week ago I unsubscribed to their emails. I do get quite a few emails though, because I also subscribe to blogs I want to read by email. I still need to sift through my email list though, as my inbox is flooded, and I just don’t have time to deal with them all. I think I just need to be more realistic and selective. As much as we kind of need social media … at times it just drives me nuts ?
Janet Camilleri says
Completely understand! All my Bloglovin’ emails go into a separate folder, to be read at my leisure. Sometimes I have quite a few to catch up on …
Julia says
I don’t use Bloglovin’, nor do I really know what it is – but I must admit, I know the feeling!
I’m so bummed that Instagram and Facebook have changed their feeds to only show the ‘top’ posts. I don’t even bother to look at my Facebook feed any more because it’s not even worth the time anymore. Same with Instagram – I just can’t keep up! I used to scroll all the way back to look at every new post since the last time I was on; now I only stalk my friends or faves 😉
If only they listened to us and changed it back to how everyone loved it!
Janet Camilleri says
I know right!
Jo says
Darn! I hate it when these platforms make changes. As if we don’t already have enough to think about 🙂 Signing up for your newsletter 🙂
Janet Camilleri says
And don’t you love the way they often don’t bother to tell you about it, you just happen to notice ages later …. thanks for signing up!!!
Sue from Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond says
I’ve been a bit confused about Bloglovin’. Some of my readers have said they have unsubcribed to my newsletter and just follow me on Bloglovin’. i’ve noticed the changes as well and also that you can post directly to Bloglovin’. Although would that mean readers wouldn’t click through to your blog? I’m a subscriber of yours so I get your email! Have a great week!
Janet Camilleri says
And I love hearing from you Sue!!!!
CathyC says
I use Feedly – it is more like the old Blogger Reader 🙂 much easier to use LOL
Janet Camilleri says
I never did get the hang of Feedly!
leanne says
I don’t really use Bloglovin much – just get their email to let me know who’s done what. Now I know that isn’t what I thought it was, it makes the email fairly pointless. I have a lot of my fav bloggers bookmarked and keep up that way (I’m very protective of how much email I have in my inbox so don’t tend to subscribe much these days).
Janet Camilleri says
Completely understand. It’s so easy for the old inbox to get out of control. I get all my Bloglovin’ emails delivered to a separate folder, so they are out of the way til I get a chance to go through them at my leisure …
vaidehi says
I dont use it so cant comment on that one.
Janet Camilleri says
You’re not missing much!!!!
Beth | AlmostPosh.com says
How annoying! I do use it but I have the blogs I read sorted into groups so hopefully I will see everything. I hate the presumptive “we will tell you what to like” approach!
Janet Camilleri says
Yes it’s just a bit rude isn’t it!!!
Me says
You just need to go to blog feed to get the old original feed of posts in order:
https://www.bloglovin.com/feed/blog_posts
It’s in the right hand side. The feed you’re seeing is the new “main” feed they made a while back that has more than just blog posts in it.
Janet Camilleri says
Ooo thanks for this tip!
Di from Max The Unicorn says
Oh this sucks that they’ve followed Facie and Insta! I used to read blogs via Bloglovin but now I catch up via blogger link ups, threads in FB groups and some I’m subscribed to via email.
Janet Camilleri says
It’s hard to keep up with them all sometimes!
Anne says
That sucks! I don’t really use bloglovin much but it is so annoying that you don’t get to see the posts you like. I just blog as a hobby and I don’t want to create a newsletter as well. It is getting harder and harder for people to see your posts and it is taking the joy out of blogging. To tell you the truth I am getting over it!
Janet Camilleri says
Anne, I wasn’t going to bother with a newsletter but then somebody showed me how to (mostly) automate it so it captured a summary of the posts I’ve done that week and it’s made it 100% easier!
Jillian Ross says
I use Feedly and usually read it on my phone. I would rather add blogs to my Feedly account than subscribe via email. Trying to keep the amount of incoming emails down.
Janet Camilleri says
I still haven’t worked out Feedly … bad blogger!!!!
Kathie Thomas says
I’ve only just recently discovered bloglovin but wasn’t sure it was all it said it was. I’ve also decided to subscribe to each blog I like instead so I might pick up a couple of new followers via bloglovin but not holding my breath.
Thanks for sharing Janet.
