I Must Confess: I am a Facebook Stalker.
Go on, admit it – we’ve all done it at some stage I’m sure! – checked out what our old school pals, workmates, and especially former boyfriends are up to these days. Surely I’m not the only nosy parker in the world?!
This is not so much a tale of my young loves, but rather, how my young loves turned out. And what I’ve discovered is that I’m really glad they are all my Exes! See for yourself …
Ex Number One
Sadly, I haven’t been able to find him on Facebook or other social media sites. Might have something to do with the fact that his last name was “Smith”?
Ex Number Two
Turns out he and his wife had seven children. SEVEN. To think – that could have been me!
Ex Number Three
This one moved to Singapore and has lived there for a number of years with his wife and children. I’m sure Singapore is a very nice place, but I’m really glad it wasn’t ME that had to move there!
Ex Number Four
(Do I sound like a total hussy with all these exes?!)
Despite the fact that this particular fellow was four years older than me, he and his wife have only recently had their first child. Imagine starting your family in your late 40’s – particularly when I think that my own children are nearly grown!
One thing that I noticed they all had in common – they were ALL looking old and grey. Please tell me I don’t look as weathered as that?! I was DEFINITELY not even the slightest bit tempted to re-ignite ANY old flames – it was more a case of What the heck was I thinking?!
It all just makes me feel even more blessed that I married the hubster π
Are you a Facebook stalker? What are your exes up to these days?
Ms_MotorbikeNut says

Thanks you’ve made my day π

I have never even thought to look up any exes – on FB or anywhere else ! I have no interest in seeing what anyone of them has been up to and whether or not I would have been better off staying with them or not !
Sorry – no fascination here !!!!
Have a great day !!

Ok maybe I’m just weird π

I occasionally FB stalk my exes and like you it leaves me thinking what on earth was I thinking. Ex 1 is still living in the town where we went to school, I would be well and truly round the bend if I was still living in that town. Ex 2 has two children, and while he was 4 years older than me, his wife was only just 18 when they married. Both of their children are in care. It scares me that that could have been me and I wouldn’t have my precious Mr 4 if I had stayed.
Janet says
I think it’s a good thing to remember occasionally what we have learnt and how blessed we are now!
Mumabulous says
Only four?! Girl you just weren’t trying hard enough π I totally get the Facebook stalking thing. I experience a particularly nasty type of joy when I find out that someone who may have spurned my affections in the 1990s has become really fat. I am such a petty little person.
Janet says
Or grey … or bald … π
Ness says
Certainly sounds like a good thing that you never ended up with any of them! I’ve only ever FB stalked one boyfriend I had at 20. Looks like he’s having a great life travelling and still single. He looks repulsive though, so that could explain it. No regrets for me.
Janet says
Ah we probably all look like we have a great life on social media … just make sure you always have a HAWT profile pic coz you never know who could be checking you out or reminiscing!
Rae Hilhorst says
Hi Janet, I never thought to Face Book Stalk, could be my new hobby. You and your husband look like a beautiful couple. xxx Rae
Janet says
Naw thanks Rae π
Emily @ Have A Laugh On Me says
I now where most of my ex’s are – well the ones that were longer than 6 months!!! Sadly two died – but that’s another blog post. I think you picked a winner π xx
Janet says
Oh that’s really sad Em π … yes I think I got the pick of the bunch too π
Emma Fahy Davis says
Ah good ole Facie, I love me a good stalk! And I agree, stalking exs always feels like having dodged a serious bullet – although they probably look at me all old and grey with 5 kids and think the same thing!
Janet says
It’s fun isn’t it – glad I’m not the only one who enjoys this guilty pleasure π
Mystery Case says
lol fb stalking we call that ‘casing’. I haven’t actually gone looking for exes I have a few more than you and they are all ex for a reason but gosh it might be fun to go looking to see what they look like and how they ended up.
Janet says
Don’t worry I have more than that … these are just the ones I’ve found π
Kirsty @ My Home Truths says
If I had any exes to stalk I probably would have had a peek by now too Janet!
Janet says
Whew, glad I am not alone π
Pinky Poinker says
I could never stalk ex-boyfriends on FB because I’d be too terrified I’d accidentally hit a button and they’d find me out. Imagine that! Oh the shame. Actually fear of getting caught stops me doing a lot of things π
Janet… I’m leaving a comment on one of your other posts about not writing about your teenagers too.
Janet says
LOL well just make sure you don’t ever stalk them on Linked In, because that one DOES tell you who has been checking out your profile!
Johanna says
This made me giggle! And yes, I’ve done it too, but mostly can’t find them. I’m also really glad that I found my one and only and we’re still together – because the others leave me wondering!
Janet says
Whew! I’m in good company then!
