He’s a Crazy Cat Man!

choosing a cat is hard coz they're all so cute

We all know I’m a crazy cat lady … but what you might not have realised is:

I’m married to a crazy cat man (and proud of it)!

I first noticed he had a real soft spot for cats, the very first time I visited him at his parent’s house – when he played silly chasey games on the driveway with his (then) black and white cat.

I think I knew even then that this was one very special guy!

I’m not alone in thinking this: there is much to love about men who love cats. Apparently they are kinder, more patient, make more money, are more intelligent … but don’t take my word for it, check out the article I’ve linked to!

Real Men Love Cats

One of our first decisions as newlyweds was to get a cat of our own. Alas, coming into winter was the wrong time of year for kittens so it was November before we got our first fur-baby. Chloe was a black ball of fluff, so little she could run around on a plate!

Of course wouldn’t you know it, we’d no sooner brought Chloe home than a work colleague mentioned she had tabby kittens to give away. My crazy cat man has always had a soft spot for tabbies so before the week was out, Chloe had a sister, Tasha.

I’ve long said that my hubster is a cat-whisperer. He can seriously get any cat to come to him – which is no mean feat, given how cats can be very stand-offish around strangers! Clearly they know a good guy when they see one 😉 .

Nowadays we are the proud parents of Fleur (3) and Seth (6) … oh and Mr 22 and Miss 20. It’s amazing how similar our parenting roles are with our fur-babies, as with our non-fur-babies. The kitties know to come to Mama for cuddles and love, while Dad is always good for fun and games!

Just take a look at this boat shaped cat climber he made:

A keen fisherman, he always gives the kitties tidbits when he is filleting; and when he does the grocery shopping, he will often bring home a few prawns (the cats’ favourite treat).

Sometimes when he is lavishing attention on one of our cats, he will stop and say to me: I’m sorry, I should be giving all this attention to you! And I always tell him … Don’t be sorry, when you are loving on our cats, you are loving me 🙂 .

Crazy Cat Man: the next generation

Mr 22 is already showing signs of being a crazy cat man … he shares a particularly close bond with our tabby, Seth (though he loves Fleur, too).

One wild and stormy night recently, the hubster and I were lying in bed and thought about getting up to check the cats were okay (even though they are tucked safely into bed on their cat patio each night, we know they don’t like thunder storms) but … bed was soooo comfortable …

However the next morning we learned that not only had our son got up to check on the kitties – he actually sat with them out on the cat patio, and kept them company during the noisiest parts of the storm!

Do you have a crazy cat man in your life?!
