In a rather surprising turn of events, I have *nothing* to report this month!
This is a first for me – well, since I’ve been tracking how much I spend on clothes a month for this blog (14 months now).
So what do I blame my lack of fashion spending on?
- Now Miss 20 has a full time job I’ve lost my favourite partner in shopping crimes 😉 .
- We did go to the op shop once or twice, but I just didn’t find anything I liked (apart from a couple of novels for $1 each!).
- I’ve been busy catching up on work after taking 3 weeks off over Christmas.
- My wardrobe is pretty well stocked these days – can’t say I’m in desperate need of anything new. My favourite pair of nude sandals has fallen apart, but I have plenty of other pairs to fall back on.
- The shops are full of winter clothes and I just can’t bear to even look at them yet!
- I’ve mentioned before that February can be a bit of a “meh” month for me, fashion-wise.

Needless to say, the hubster is quite impressed with my lack of spending so far this year … I wonder if I will make up for lost time, next month?!
What about you – how much do you think you spent on fashion in February?

I need to follow your lead and have a no spend month or two. We’ve just sold our NSW property which means purchasing land over here and building. Would like the extra funds to fund a few wish list items in the new house.
Janet Camilleri says
Ooo exciting times Raychael!!!
Marylou Khan says
I haven’t bought anything for quite sometime which is really unusual for me. As for winter Brisbane feels like it will never get cold.
Janet Camilleri says
I feel a bit the same Marylou!
Vaidehi says
I have not shopped anything this month . Yay
Janet Camilleri says
Yay for your budget!

The trouble with my now living at our favourite holiday destination is I am in holiday mode ALL THE TIME. Plus we have lots of visitors = drinks and nibblies = putting on weight = new clothes. Seeing how I’m on virtual holiday and visiting daughter was on actual holidays we went shopping down at the Coolum waterfront. She stocked up on tie-died t-shirts and I purchased a new flowy style comfy dress. To satisfy my budget leaning it was 20% off. Cost $31. As soon as winter kicks in, I’m sure you will be adding to your expenditure. 🙂
Janet Camilleri says
I love dresses like that Jan. I have stacks of lovely winter clothes so by rights needn’t buy anymore … especially seeing as our winter is so short … but I do get tempted!
Jo says
I’m currently in chuck-out mode, and since Christmas I haven’t spent anything. No doubt that will change soon once I realise my wardrobe has gaps in it!!
Kathy Marris says
Yes I agree, February is a bit of a difficult month for clothes shopping as all the summer sales have long gone and the clothing has been picked over, plus as you say the autumn clothes are starting to come into the stores. Who can even think about autumn clothing! It is still stinking hot!! 🙂 #TeamLovinLife
Janet Camilleri says
Too right, some days all I want to wear is a sarong 😉
Min@WriteoftheMiddle says
I don’t think I’ve bought any clothes for myself this year at all. I did buy a few things before my cruise but that was so last year! lol #TeamLovinLife
Janet Camilleri says
Tee hee hee I like your sense of humour!

I am always surprised at people who buy clothes all year round. I tend to have a couple of bursts during the year (usually at sale time) and that does me for a while. Well done for being so frugal for Feb – it gives you more to spend in March 🙂
Janet Camilleri says
I used to be like that, but these days if I find something I like that fits my body AND my wallet, I grab it coz it’s not always that easy to find!
Lyndall @ SeizeTheDayProject says
Yes I’m with you Janet. I haven’t spent a cent this month on clothing or shoes, etc. I’ve been far too busy to go shopping also. I’m SO not ready for winter clothing yet either!! 🙂 #TeamLovinLife
Janet Camilleri says
Yeah I can’t stand the way winter stuff is already everywhere …
Leanne @ Deep Fried Fruit says
I think I should do this whole reporting in on shopping thing. Simply because I rarely shop and the clothes in my wardrobe are usually 5+ years old and I’d like to show my husband that I really don’t spend much money. He probably shops more than I do!
Having said that, I think I did buy something in February …. oh yes , an off the shoulder blouse from Katies. $50. I actually paid full price. Can you believe that?
So cancel everything I said earlier. For a non shopper I’ve spent more this year than you have!
Janet Camilleri says
You always look well turned out Leanne so it just goes to show you don’t have to buy stuff constantly to look good 🙂
Di from Max The Unicorn says
Well done! I haven’t bought any clothes or shoes (or handbags!) in February either. Go us!
Janet Camilleri says
Yeah!
Kooky Chic says
I’ve been buying knits, somethings amiss because I can’t get enough of them and usually I avoid at all costs. I abhor winter but this year I am going to look dazzling….in my own lunch box.
Janet Camilleri says
LOL what’s that about?!
Bec Senyard says
I’ve hardly bought anything this year either… although last week I bought a pair of distressed jeans for $30 from Crossroads. Hubby was happy with that because the ones I was considering to buy were around $150!!
Janet Camilleri says
Yes it’s important that hubby is happy with our fashion spend!!!

Being in Victoria I am beginning to think about clothes for cooler weather and feeling that my summer wardrobe is complete – a nice place to be.
I know I need a few things for autumn/winter so I don’t just slip into my jeans comfort zone. I have been doing a bit of second hand shopping online but will undoubtedly add some new bits and pieces too to fill some gaps.
Janet Camilleri says
So jealous that things are starting to cool down where you are – it’ll be May before it feels like that here!
Deborah says
I’ve not bought clothes for ages and am waiting until I figure I’m at a weight I’ll stay at for a while.
Part of it is $ (and I just wrote about that in a comment on another post), but I think I’m also trying to work out what I need / want.
Thankfully an old friend contacted me a week or two ago and has sent me some clothes she’d ‘shrunk’ out of and some of those fit and will be useful for work.
I ditched most of my work clothes and ‘too small’ clothes years ago as they held some bad memories but I wish I’d held onto some of them now as I’m limited to 1-2 pairs of trousers for work and just a few shirts!
