I Must Confess: I have totally pinched this idea from Beth over at Almost Posh (with her permission of course!) – and will be reporting on my monthly spend on my wardrobe, throughout 2016.
Supposedly, on average each Australian woman spends $834 per year on clothing purchases.
If I were to take a wild guess at my current spending habits, I would pick a figure of $1000 per year. So let’s find out just how accurate I am, as I track my spending and bringing you a monthly “fashionomics report”!
Fashionomics Report: January
A quick hunt through my wardrobe, and I found the following purchases which I am pretty sure were all made during January (or the very last week of December, maybe, so close enough) …
Off the Shoulder Dress, $29.95. Pretty sure the original price was $49.95.
“Nightshirt” Dress (at least, that’s what the hubster calls it. Pffft, what do men know about fashion!). Was $39.95; reduced to $29.95.
Silky top, was $29.95, bought for $14.95. While not something I will wear during the heat of summer, I am sure this will become a firm favourite and a great layering piece for the cooler months.
All of the above are from Katies – throughout the month I popped in regularly, as I had a $100 gift card burning a hole in my pocket. Even though technically these purchases didn’t cost me anything, I would most likely still have bought them even if I did have to hand over actual cash 😉 .
Caroline Morgan spliced dress, was $59.95, paid $30.
I really don’t need any more dressy items in my wardrobe, but when I saw this dress at Trade Secrets reduced to half price, I couldn’t resist trying it on – and the hubster loved it, so it had to come home with me!
Sundress from Rivers, $12 was $30 (I think)
I’ve mentioned this sundress before, and how I tried it on in a pale print that unfortunately emphasised my pot belly – but this darker palm leaf print miraculously disguises it. Guaranteed I will get a lot of wear out of this dress!
January summary
Items bought: 5
Total original ticket “value”: approx $191.85
Paid: $104.85
YTD Spend: $116.85
How much do you think you would spend per year on clothes?!
