Continuing my monthly series where I bare my soul, and share just how much I’ve been spending on clothes!
After my online spending spree in April, I honestly thought I wouldn’t need to buy anything for another 6 months! But when I see something cute or pretty AND it fits, it’s so very, very hard to leave it in the store … I was going REALLY WELL until yesterday when I picked up a few goodies while out shopping with Miss 19 on her day off π .
Op Shopping Rules!
The first item I bought in May was this cute kimono jacket (label: Rockmans), perfect for “between seasons” dressing. I picked it up from my favourite op shop, for just $4.50.
Katies Markdown
I fell in love with this Katies waterfall vest, originally $49.95 marked down to $29, slashed by an extra 30% off – so I paid just $20.30.
It was all going so well …
I’d spent less than $25 all month and was feeling pretty pleased with myself. Until yesterday!
I’ll also let you in on a little secret. See the top in the pic above? It’s actually a pyjama top! True story! I bought it at Best and Less for $12 (see below), along with a robe ($30 reduced to $15), and some new heaven pants for dagging around home ($8). I don’t actually wear winter pyjamas – I get too hot in bed – but when it’s cool in the evenings or first thing in the mornings, I still like to have something warm to pull on.
This wasn’t the end of the bargains from Best and Less. My new peasant top (below) was $28 reduced to $15, Miss 19 insisted it was gorgeous and that I had to get it. Who am I to disobey my daughter?! LOL. I’m wearing it with my last season Millers denim jeggings*, and my new Kmart flats (were $20, now half price).
And so now we come to the bottom line of my May Fashionomics Report …

I always think I don’t need anything more but my heart gets stolen away with items I find. Aren’t op shops the best? I love a good find. You’re finding some good buys so you can feel a bit better about the bargains you’re getting! I’d be interested in what my YTD tally would be…..
Janet Camilleri says
You should do a Fashionomics Report! It’s a real eye opener π

I want to come op-shopping with you Janet! I love your ‘finds’. The Katie’s waterfall cardigan I love too. You have a great knack for putting things together and not spending a fortune. Let’s make an op-shopping date π

Oh I do feel better after reading your post as I too find it hard to pass up a bargain – FOMO (as my teens would say…). Most recent purchase was today – a new pair of Adidas Superstar sneakers, so comfortable I may as well throw out all my other shoes…x

Go you! I love op shopping too…. I have always wanted a denim jacket… my whole life… and bought two recently at op shops… new (mind you), and good brands… one black, one blue, for $8 each. I wish you lived closer. We’d have fun!
PS Sorry I haven’t been stopping by as often… putting the finishing touches to my book before it goes to the designer xx
