Frocktober Weekly Wrap – FINAL!

Reflecting back on Frocktober 2015 and I can say with conviction, what a wonderful experience.

Who would have thought you could get so much out of a month of frivolous fashion 😉 ?

But before I look back on some of the things I gained from the past month, here is the final Frocktober weekly wrap for your viewing pleasure …

Day 29

I’m channelling a Spanish senorita in this cute frock, and all it took was adding a new flower clip (H&M, $4.95) to my hair. The dress was a $15 Kmart bargain at the beginning of the year, and I’m wearing the garnet and silver necklace the hubster gave me for our 25th wedding anniversary 🙂 .

Day 30

Love the slightly retro feel of this dress (H&M, $29.95), as well as the fit. It zips up the back, and is made of a jersey knit fabric – no iron or course!

Day 31

Have you got the message yet that I love H&M? Another slightly retro look dress, thanks to the print – which we ended up deciding is pineapples, not wisteria. Again, in a no-iron jersey knit fabric. All this for $14.95! I’m wearing it with my starfish necklace from Mallorca (not Marseilles as I originally thought), and the shoes were $7.50 from Crossroads on sale last summer.

I signed up for Frocktober with the hope of giving back, but I gained so much from it at the same time …

Reflections on Frocktober 2015

The satisfaction of tackling a challenge – When I first considered joining Frocktober a year ago, I had maybe a dozen frocks hanging in my wardrobe. How on earth would I pull over a 31 day challenge of wearing frocks?! Thanks to preparing early, an op shopping habit, and borrowing from friends – I did it with ease and still had frocks left over at the end of the month! (I am also blessed with a wonderful hubster who not only doesn’t mind my little frock addiction, but has complimented me on my frock style nearly every day. What a sweetheart!)

Being part of something much bigger – The whole point of Frocktober was to raise funds for ovarian cancer research, and I’m pleased to announce I raised a total of $462.80. While it didn’t quite meet my goal of $700, I played as part of a team of bloggers headed up by Kimba Likes, and together we were able to smash our joint goal of $1500. AND, the total raised across Australia? As of last night, the total was a jaw-dropping $318,082.74!

Helping to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, the “silent killer” – the symptoms of ovarian cancer are so vague that most women don’t realise they have it until it’s too late. That’s why the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation is working so hard, to find a method of early detection which will save women’s lives.

Fun fun fun – I loved frocking up each day, checking out social media to see what other frockettes were wearing, and what a great conversation starter it was with friends, family, acquaintances and random shop assistants!

Discovering new looks and new styles – In my quest to source a different frock for each day of Frocktober, I tried dresses in styles I wouldn’t normally have even looked at. As a result, I discovered some great new looks – for example, I probably wouldn’t have looked at a shift dress before, and now I have two that I love (one of them is pictured above).

There were also a couple of frocks that I worried were a bit “young” for me (mutton dressed as lamb anyone) – and was overwhelmed with your support, to forget that silly saying and just rock the frock (below)!

Renewing my passion for fashion, especially frocks – Yes, Frocktober 2015 may be over, but I’ve re-discovered the joy of frocks – they’re a quick yet comfortable style option especially as we head into the warmer months. Even though I don’t *have* to wear a frock anymore, I can’t seem to leave them behind … and have already put some of my new (and mostly thrifted) frock stars into my regular wardrobe rotation.

Viva le frock (or is it la frock?!)!

Are you a frock fan – how many frocks would I find in your wardrobe?!
