Just in case you have been living under a rock haven’t noticed, I’m participating in #Frocktober2015 to support the work of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation as they try to find a method of early detection for this silent killer.
So far it’s going well! The weather has been perfect for frocking up, and I’ve been having lots of fun. Even better, so far I’ve manged to raise $156.50 – thank you so much to Jo, June, Jean and Sammy, your support is much appreciated 🙂 . (Here’s the link if you’d like to join them and be part of the roll call next week: https://frocktober2015.everydayhero.com/au/middle-aged-mama).
This week I’ve worn some old favourites, a recent bargain, some op shop lovelies, and a borrowed frock:
Day 1
I picked this cute skater dress up from Crossroads a couple of weeks ago – just $10 on the sale rack!
Day 2
I don’t normally wear orange, but Miss 18 talked me into getting this layered frock on a recent trip to the op shop and I’m glad she did. The label says it was originally from SES Fashion.
Day 3
Ahoy there! I got this nautical number last summer, at Suzanne Grae.
Day 4
The label says it’s from Filo, but I’ve had it for years – and even then I got it from an op shop! It remains a firm favourite as I love the fit and the splashes of colour.
Day 5
I feel like a “real lady” whenever I wear this “Timeless” by Vannessa Tong dress. Yet another op shop bargain that I’ve had for a couple of years now.
Day 6
I knew I’d be struggling to find enough dresses for 31 days of frocks, so my friend Fred (aka Nicola) lent me some, including this pretty sundress. I must confess though, it was a little long – not only did I have to pin the straps up at the back, I kept tripping over it!
Day 7
I bought this dress at JayJays a couple of years ago – it was a maxi dress, but I just *knew* I’d get more wear out of it if it was shorter. Besides, any excuse to show off my great legs, hey?! So last year I had it professionally altered (as I wanted to keep the border pattern and it was a bit beyond my sewing capabilities!), and I’m so glad I did. It’s so cool and comfy it’s one of my regular “go-to” dresses in the summer months.
As I write this (on Wednesday), I’m told a cooler change is set to blow through in the next day or so, which means I might have to get more creative with leggings, scarves and jackets with my frocks … make sure you stop by next week to see how Week 2 pans out!
Which frock is your favourite?!
I love the frocks on days 4 & 6 Janet.
I think I mentioned before I only own one dress and it doesn’t fit me so…. go you!!!
I’m having fun Deb, it’s got me experimenting with some different styles that I wouldn’t have tried ordinarily, and makes dressing each morning so much fun!
The Vanessa Tong floral dress is the stand out winner. I think the waisted style flatters your figure more so than the high waisted styles dresses. 🙂
I think so too Kathy – if only I could wear frocks like this every day!
You look fabulous. But love love love day 5. Stunning.
