And so another week of Frocktober draws to a close, and what a week it’s been, including:
- a skin cancer diagnosis for a spot on my nose (currently being treated with a chemotherapy cream);
- Miss 18’s accident at ice skating. She ended up in hospital for the weekend, and needed surgery to repair a sliced tendon on the back of her hand;
- a dreadful internet connection. It’s a challenge to keep up with my work, let alone my blog. It goes down at approximately the same times every day, and is quite slow when it IS actually working. However my internet service provider and Telstra both claim it’s not a fault on their part; we’ve bought a new modem in the hopes that would solve the problem but it hasn’t. Not sure not to do next – any suggestions?!
Despite all that, I’ve continued my frockventures – that’s commitment for you right there! 😉
I’d like to take this opportunity to blow kisses and send my heartfelt thanks to Donna and Claire for donating this week; my fundraising total now sits at $340.25 🙂 .
Time is running out for you to get involved, so go ahead, make my day (said in a Clint Eastwood rasp!), by donating at https://frocktober2015.everydayhero.com/au/middle-aged-mama.
Day 15
I finally found a kimono jacket that actually flattered my figure, and didn’t look like a bed jacket – and even better, I found it at the best op shop in Queensland (and also my favourite) for just $4! I’m wearing it over a Seed Heritage slip dress. Can you see the stitch on my nose from the biopsy?
Day 16
This is an old favourite from Crossroads. You can’t really see it but it has a black lace panel on the back; wearing it with a necklace we bought in Dubrovnik earlier this year.
Day 17
The hospital edition – still managing a smile despite having been at the Emergency Department with Miss 18 til 3am, and being back at her bedside first thing the next morning. Dressed purely for comfort in another old favourite – dress from Kmart, pendant from Big W, both a couple of years old.
Day 18
Time to bring Miss 18 home from hospital. Comfort dressing again, I’ve had this Crossroads dress for a couple of years, wearing with a dichroic glass necklace which was a gift from the hubster. He bought it for me from a stall at the Ekka last year.
And now for a close up of the necklace, coz it’s so pretty!
Day 19
Monochrome for Monday – picked up this Crossroads dress at the op shop at least 3 years ago; owl pendant and bolero jacket were also thrifted. I like my hair in this pic, I gave it a bit of a wave at the front with my straightener.
Day 20
Dressed for a specialist appointment in another old favourite from Crossorads (I really should talk to them about becoming a brand ambassador, LOL!). This dress was originally strapless so I added some straps (that’s about the limit of my sewing abilities 😉 ), which makes it make it much more comfortable and wearable.
Day 21
More monochrome magic! I *had* planned to wear a more colourful dress today, but for the life of me I couldn’t get it zipped up so will have to wait for a day when the hubster is home, to wear it. (And no, it’s not because I’m too big for it – the zip is just stubborn and awkward to reach!).
Here’s hoping the next week is better in so many ways … in the meantime you could help cheer me up by donating now 🙂 . You would also be supporting women everywhere as your donation helps the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation work on a method of early detection, to save more women’s lives from this silent killer.
Which one is your favourite look this week – and why?!
Great frocks Janet. Looking good : ) Sorry to hear about Miss 18’s accident. Hope this week is less eventful xo
Hi Liz, yes it’s certainly been full on! On the bright side, seeing as she can’t work at the moment she comes to visit me everyday because there’s nobody at home at her house so it’s “boring”. I’m enjoying being a “mummy” again for a little while!
