My daughter coined this term when she was only a little nipper, and now we can’t imagine life without it.
What are heaven pants, I hear you ask?
It’s an ultra comfy pair of pants or trousers that you wear at home in the colder months to keep you cosy. Usually it’s an oversized pair of flannel PJ pants. It could be an old pair of tracky dacks. And the great things is, the more you wear them, and the more you wash them – the softer and more heavenly they are to wear!
Credit must go to Miss 16 for inventing the concept of heaven pants. The idea is that you purchase a pair many sizes too big – she is a size 8, so it all started when she pinched a pair of MY size 14 pyjama pants and made them her own. And you don’t wear the matching PJ top – you wear a comfy long sleeved t-shirt, or a sweatshirt (does anybody else still call them sloppy joes or I am just showing my age?!).
Please note, heaven pants are NOT for wearing out. (Although I’ve noticed that it’s becoming a real trend to pop out at night for milk or bread – and not bother to change OUT of your heaven pants into something more decent! The young ones can get away with it. Me, not so much.)
At the end of a hard day at work, or when you’ve been out in the rain, cold or wind, there’s nothing better than coming home and putting on your heaven pants. They’re perfect for when you’re curling up to watch TV – and for bedtime. They’re synonomus with relaxing, with home, with comfort. A little piece of HEAVEN!
It seems we’re not the only ones however who are familiar with the concept … I recently stumbled across this post by Mez at Listen Sookie …
What about you? Have you discovered the paradise of Heaven Pants?!

Why can’t all clothes be “heaven pants”?!
Josefa @always Josefa says
Oh absolutely! I have both heaven “pj” pants and heaven “trackie” pants – both work as well as each other π I was at the supermarket the other day too and noticed someone there in their entire pj – ummm…..is that ok these days? (please tell me its not!)
Janet says
It seems to be more than okay, it seems to be the latest fashion – for the 25 and under’s anyway …
Lisa@ Circle of Toast says
Yes! Except we call them ‘comfs’ – short for comfortables! Is it sad that one of the highlights of my day is to finally get home and change into my comfs!?
Janet says
Comfs! I love it π
BossyMummy says

It’s 6.30pm – I think it’s about time I got mine on too!

Cannot live without them. But I am finding the fact that it is not just wearing them out at night disturbing. This trend is making it to the day time. I love a Sunday PJ day now and then, but popping to the shops in daylight in them is just not on!
These sacred items must remain in the home.
Janet says
Yes, that’s just tacky.
carmen says
In our house they are yoga pants… for all the girls.
The boys just roll their eyes. π

EssentiallyJess says
No need for heaven pants in the tropics; I do have a couple of pairs of heaven shorts that I love though π
Janet says
Heaven shorts! I love it!
Emily @ Have a laugh on me says
It’s funny, I can’t find my sloppy joes, totally call them that too! But need I will definitely! However, I do have home and out clothes, I change if I head to shops – and I’ve only worn my ugg boots to the shops once – I PROMISE π xx
P.s thanks for kind words yesterday, much appreciated x
Janet says
Yay somebody else remembers sloppy joes! π
