I’ve been thinking lately about wedding anniversaries – or more specifically, how to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary, which is coming up in May next year (can you tell I was a child bride?!).
Twenty-five years of wedded bliss is definitely something to celebrate! But how?
Here are just some of the ideas that have crossed my mind …
Party On Dudes!
The hubster and I aren’t huge on parties as a rule – going to them, or giving them.
But if ever there was a time to do something a wee bit special, I think this might be it (that, or our 50th birthdays!).
And seeing as it is OUR celebration, we shouldn’t be the ones busting our boilers to do all the work. No, this sounds to me like the perfect time to hire a caterer.
Just think – no need to stress about the food or the cleaning up of it afterwards, and we’ll be guaranteed to have fabulous eats (which may not necessarily be the case if we self-cater!). Websites like Noosh Catering make it easy as pie to organise professional food for your party or special celebration.
Wedding Vow Renewal
It must be the romantic in me, but I’ve always thought it would be lovely to renew our wedding vows or have a second wedding ceremony. Any excuse to frock up in something fancy and feel like a princess for a day 😉 !
Hubster on the other hand thinks that one wedding is quite enough for one lifetime, thanks very much.
A 2nd (or 3rd) Honeymoon

For our 20th wedding anniversary, the hubster and I spoilt ourselves with a 5 day stay on the Gold Coast. Just us, no kids – extremely rare back then. No demands, no pressures, just free time to really relax and enjoy each other’s company. We had a magical time. Dare I say, the 2nd honeymoon was even better than the first – or is that TMI?!
So another holiday – a 3rd honeymoon?! – is probably our number #1 choice for the big 25th wedding anniversary.
We’re dreaming of heading overseas, and cruising the Mediterranean – we’ve never been further afield than New Zealand and various islands in the Pacific.
Unfortunately the hubster’s job situation is a tad uncertain so it may have to remain a dream for the moment … but we will do it, one of these days!
How would you most like to celebrate a special wedding anniversary?!
Congrats!!!!! That is a very special anniversary! Yes I think that going on a cruise sounds amazing – hopefully it works out for you! And if not, you’ve still got each other and I’m sure you will have a brilliant time whatever you choose to do. xxx
Thanks Lucy, I really hope we get to go overseas, but it all depends on hubster’s job. I’d rather he found a job he was happy in, and got paid less, even if it meant no special holiday for our 25th wedding anniversary! Now that MUST be love!!!!
Congrats on such an awesome milestone! 25 years is fantastic!
If you can’t get away for another trip, a party would be a wonderful idea! 🙂
We went on a trip for our first wedding anniversary – so much fun, and such a surprise, hubby planned it all! 🙂
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary by staying at Jupiter’s Casino where we were upgraded to a suite with magnificent views over the coast with a free bottle of champers & fruit and cheese platter (very nice!) Luckily we have a friend who works here and he took care of the upgrade! I also very fortunately received a beautiful diamond ring from my hubby for 25 years of wedded bliss. It was a truly a memorable event.
My 25th wedding anniversary is in December we are having a party
