My Favourite Fashion Eras

what are your best features

Sometimes I look back on the fashions of days gone by, and wish I had been around to actually wear them.

It’s hard to narrow it down to just one, so here are a few of my favourite fashion eras – and why …

Edwardian Style

Not so much the outfits, although they are alright – more the Edwardian hairstyle as above. Of course I would need the lady’s maid to help me create it every morning …

The 1920’s

I’m a fan of the drop waist dress, so it probably comes as no surprise that that 1920’s is probably my favourite fashion era.

Plus, I love my hair in a bob, cloche hats, stick pins, long strings of pearls, and the cute shoes.

Did anybody else catch the BBC series “House of Elliot” several years ago, about two sisters starting their own fashion design business? Swoon!

The 1950’s

The 1950’s had so much to offer! The bobby soxer look is just plain cute, or you could go the ladylike path with pencil skirts, heels and pearls, gloves and a floral tea dress. Pants for women were really starting to make a fashion statement – cigarette pants and capri pants.

Oh, and the evening wear – gorgeous tulle creations a la Grace Kelly – just divine darling!

The 1960’s

I think this might stem from my TV watching habits as a kid. The Brady Bunch was my favourite show and I loved whatever Marcia Brady wore, even though I was watching repeats several years later when the styles were already quite dated!

To this day I quite like the groovy fashions of the 60’s – from psychadelic swirls to houndstooth, as well as the short skirts and shift dresses made famous by Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy.

And I’ve always wanted a pair of white gogo boots …
