My Favourite Writing Quotes

favourite writing quotes

One of my hobbies is collecting quotes that inspire or really resonate with me (yes, I’m a word nerd 😉 ).

As a writer, I have found other writers have captured my own feelings and experiences so beautifully, that I often re-read them and find myself inspired all over again.

So without further ado, here are some of my favourite writing quotes – I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

My Favourite Writing Quotes

I have my own version of this gem from Agatha Christie: replace the word “book” with “blog post”, and “dishes” with “driving / lying in bed / in the shower” (well you get the idea!)

I breathe; therefore I write. From stories and letters to penpals when I was a girl, to magazine articles, two non-fiction books, and now this blog and content for dozens of websites and social media accounts …

I can’t imagine stopping writing. Seems I always have something to say! And rather than talk everybody’s ears off, I write 😉 . And I am so grateful to every single one of you that stops by to read my ramblings …

So if you ever find yourself quoting a sentence or a post of mine, do let me know – it would make my day!

I used to worry that if I worked from home, I would go stir crazy without any colleagues for company. Instead, I find I am so consumed by my writing work that I am glad I don’t have to be disturbed! As for the savage part … well you would just have to ask the kidults and the hubster if I get grumpy when interrupted 😉 .

While I feel very strongly that I was born to write, unlike Gloria, I almost feel guilty for loving it so much (and being able to charge people for it!).

When that internal critic starts up, I always remind myself that as long as I get something on the page, I have achieved. At least when I come back to it another time, I will have something to work with. And usually I discover that actually, it ain’t half bad!
