Who do you like to go shopping with?
Miss 18 is one of my favourite shopping companions π
My favourite companions for a bit of retail therapy are Miss 18, my sister, and my 19 year old niece.
I don’t get out to the shops all that much (believe it or not – too busy working!), so I really look forward to going out with “the girls” every school holidays. It’s become our little shopping tradition.
We live an hour apart so don’t actually get to see each other that much; which is why we’ve kept up the tradition even though our kids aren’t at school anymore (Miss 18 is working, and my niece is at Uni).
We try to choose a shopping centre that’s roughly halfway between our homes – which is why we often find ourselves at the Airport DFO here in Brisbane. Like last Monday π .
As well as being a great chance to catch up, it was also a bonanza bargain hunting day!
Loving myself sick in these bargain pants from DFO – seems you do too – 68 likes & heaps of comments on this pic on Instagram!
For just under $130 I came home with:
- one pair of Caroline Morgan pants, from Ginger Tree (pictured above): $25
- a Country Road Belt reduced from $39.95 to $9.95 then 25% off, making it: $7.45
- a Rivers long sleeved stripe tee in berry: $8
- a colourful tunic also from Rivers: $25
- a striped top from Billabong (which Miss 18 also bought in her size!) – not sure of the original price but it would have been over $50. We paid: $9.95
- Just Jeans peasant frill top, reduced from $59.95 to: $29.95
- Just Jeans pink tassel necklace originally $19.95, now: $9.95
- Just Jeans blue and silver multi chain necklace originally $24.95, now: $9.95.
Who wore it better – me or Miss 18? Okay, don’t answer that!!!!
I’d like to say that such a great haul will tide me over for the rest of the season, but we’d both know I was lying π .
Why just on Saturday I picked up this great Sussan tunic at the op shop for $4!
This Sussan top will look great over my old faithful black leggings!
Do you have a shopping tradition too – and what was the last bargain that you bagged?!
Ingrid @ Fabulous and Fun Life says
Great bargain shopping Janet! I love DFO shopping also. I went to DFO at Homebush last Thursday and also bagged some bargains including a David Lawrence top normally $149 reduced to $29 and another David Lawrence top reduced from $129 to $14.95. So happy with these two tops!

Great specials! Let me know if you share them on your blog so I can check them out!

I LOVE an op shop bargain and those red and black pants are HAWT!! π
Janet Camilleri says
Ta Amy – I fell in love with them instantly and then wondered if they were a bit out there – and decided to buy them and take a risk, which evidently has paid off!
Raych aka Mystery Case says
What bargains. Please take me shopping.

Next time I’m in Perth – it’s a date! π

I can’t wait til bub is old enough to go on shopping trips together {of course that’ll be a long time off}. I wish I had a mum who wanted to do stuff like that, but I guess I’ll make my own traditions with bub eventually. Mind you we actually went shopping together yesterday to find a present for daddy’s birthday {but she really didn’t have a choice in whether she came or not lol}.
Janet Camilleri says
Toni, I think my girl was about 12 or 13 when we started enjoying shopping together so it really doesn’t take long. I really love and treasure being able to shop with her, because like you I haven’t had a mum to do these things with xxx

Oh how I miss these kind of trips with my own mother, we used to have a blast! I love those pants!
Janet Camilleri says
I never had that kind of relationship with my own mum, but I can imagine it must be hard without her x

I shop with my daughter too when she visits! Sometimes I also go Outlet Shopping with my girlfriends either at DFO Brisbane or Harbourtown on the Gold Coast. Shopping is something I really enjoy doing, especially if I find some bargains. In New York there is a huge designer brand discount department store called Century 21 and I picked up heaps of bargains there. I love that Sussan chambray shirt and the Caroline Morgan pants are very stylish.
Janet Camilleri says
Thanks for the tip Kathy: note to self, check out Century 21 when I go to New York!!!

I love shopping days with my mum. It’s something I doubt we’ll ever grow out of π
Great bonding (and bargain) moments! We pride ourselves on shopping really well – it’s like an art form!
My last bargain was a dress to wear to a wedding. It was a pretty good designer brand and I got it for less than half price! So proud of myself! π
Janet Camilleri says
I didn’t have the chance to do this sort of thing with my own mum so I love having a daughter (and a sister and a niece) that I can share the fun with π

I love DFO shopping. If Adelaide was just a little bit closer, I would hit Harbour Town all the time!
I love that shirt you are both wearing. And actually I like it a little better on you (don’t tell π )
Janet Camilleri says
Really? Naww thanks Jess! It’s hard not to compare myself negatively to a gorgeous tall young thing like Miss 18 π
Renee Wilson says
You girls know how to shop! Love those red pants!
Janet Camilleri says
It was love at first sight Renee, a bit bold and bright but I decided to take a risk (only $25, why not) and am glad I did!

I love love love that pic of you and Miss 18 in your matching tops! It’s really weird, but seeing it laid out flat like that and it probably wouldn’t have appealed to me at all, but it looks so good when it’s being worn. Some great scores there!
Janet Camilleri says
When I saw it on the rack, I loved the colours and pulled it out to show Miss 18 as I knew it was “her” colours. But lo and behold they had one in my size … I wasn’t sure if the colours would be right on me but I loved it once I was wearing it. I think this is the first time we’ve liked and bought the same thing but I have a feeling it won’t be the last!
Twitchy Sharon says
Loving the red/black print pants! Coolio. Your daughter’s make up skillz? AWESOME! Looking good gals #teamIBOT
Janet Camilleri says
Thanks Twitchy, she is v talented with makeup although now she has to wear it everyday to work she is starting to get bored with it, it’s not just for “fun” anymore … welcome to adult life!!
