Last time I organised a blog event was nearly five years ago.
Even though I was six months into my second blog, Redland City Living, I was still very new to the blogging scene.
However I wasn’t going to let that stop me! I was keen to meet other local bloggers IRL (in real life) – so I booked a table at a local cafe and put the word out, hoping that somebody (anybody!) would turn up.
My prayers were answered, and about a dozen bloggers turned up for coffee and chat.
It was a lot of fun and I promised I would do it again …
Better late than never right?!
The Blogosphere is Constantly Changing
Looking back on the guest list from the Redland Bloggers Meet Up, some are no longer blogging. A few are still going strong, and some have gone on to establish new blogs.
And that’s the thing. The blogosphere is continually changing – blogs come, blogs go. Those of us that stick at it long enough find ourselves the elders of the bloggy clan, by default!
The thing is, I’m not a newbie blogger anymore.Β As a bloggy ‘elder’ I’ve even been invited to speak about blogging at a couple of gigs in the last couple of years. They were incredibly well-received – the Blogging for Money workshop in November last year sold out! – and I had people asking me to “do it again”.
So I’ve finally got my act together and am taking the plunge.
Introducing Pop Up Blog Zones
But what is a Pop Up Blog Zone? I’m so glad you asked!
A Pop Up Blog Zone is a casual event which (surprise surprise) pops up in a seemingly spontaneous fashion (don’t be fooled, there’s a lot of work behind the scenes LOL), taking over a venue for a couple of hours so that attendees can:
- connect with other bloggers;
- learn about blogging;
- talk about blogging;
- share ideas about blogging;
- be inspired about blogging;
- join forces with other bloggers … well, you get the idea.
This first event will be held at Loganholme, on Brisbane’s southside, in the M1 Psychology Training Room.
But I’m hoping it’s just the first of many. Perhaps the next one could be in your neck of the woods?!
Here’s Your Invitation
Interested? Click on over to find out more, or book your ticket. Our venue this time means that numbers are strictly limited to 12 attendees.
I really hope that if you live in the Brisbane area, and want to find out more about this bloggy caper, that you will come and join us!
And once again I find myself praying that somebody, ANYBODY, will actually turn up … π
Can you help me spread the word about the first ever Pop Up Blog Zone?!
Iβm joining up with:

What a fabulous idea. I’m off to a writing event here on the sunny coast, but otherwise would have been interested – partly so I could meet you in real life, but also to meet other people.
Janet Camilleri says
You never know Jo, perhaps a Blog Zone will ‘pop up’ near you in 2018!
Jo says
Awesome! Go you! I hope you get lots of attendees (I’m sure you will). Sigh. If only I lived on the East Coast.
Janet Camilleri says
Who knows Jo, maybe Pop Up Blog Zones will be the next big thing and I’ll ‘pop up’ in Perth?! (I can dream anyways)
Deborah says
I recognise a few faces in that first pic Janet!
The event sounds great. I think it’s important to spend time with like-minded people and get that nourishment we need from those who ‘get’ what we do. (I appreciate some of the FB groups I’m in for that reason!)
We’ve had a few Instameets here on the Fraser Coast but they haven’t been hugely supported – but I’ve gained a couple of new friends out of them which has been great and of course can now put names to faces and have new resources and contacts in the community. (There still aren’t many bloggers here though!)
Janet Camilleri says
I thought you might!!!
Vanesssa says
Yay! I want to do more in person bloggy stuff now I feel human again. Though to be honest I’m too lazy to drive that far on a day off work haha. I drive far enough to commute during the week. Northside one though – you betcha I’ll be there.
Janet Camilleri says
Haha don’t blame you. I’m already planning one for the northside next year – if you have any ideas for venues do let me know!
Leanne says
I’m too far away π but it sounds like it will be another success to me Janet – especially seeing you’re keeping it small and intimate. I’m looking forward to seeing how it all pans out and to hearing about all that you taught them.
Janet Camilleri says
Thanks Leanne – you never know maybe a Pop Up Blog Zone in Perth is in order!
Denyse says
Oh my goodness that was 5 years ago! Some people are not blogging any more and I think the scene has changed significantly. I know you do all you can to encourage and support others and I wish you well for this next event!
Janet Camilleri says
Ta Denyse!
Kathy Marris says
Great idea Janet! I would love to attend but I’m kind of busy for the next few months. This time of year is crazy. I hope it goes well. It’s so difficult trying to co-ordinate these types of events. #TeamLovinLife
Janet Camilleri says
I know what you mean. I’ve been “meaning to” do this all year and suddenly realised the year is almost gone. Hopefully I will do some more next year, maybe even on the Goldie for you!
Min@WriteoftheMiddle says
I remember that Redlands Bloggy Meet-Up like it was only yesterday but in fact it was probably nearly 5 years ago! I had such a good time meeting everyone. I think your Pop Up Blog Zone idea is fabulous. I might be able to come along to this one – will have to check my calendar. In the meantime I will share this post on my FB page to help get the word out. π #TeamLovinLife
Janet Camilleri says
Yup 5 years in May Min, can you believe it?! Thanks so much for all your support!!!!
Sydney Shop Girl says
The pop up blogging zones are an amazing idea! It’s been interesting watching blogging change. I’ve also really liked that many bloggers haven’t and have stayed true to their passions.

Janet Camilleri says
I really hope it goes well as I’d love to do more …
Lyndall @ Seize The Day Project says
Great idea Janet. Hope you have loads of people turn up and it’s a great success for you! π #TeamLovinLife
Janet Camilleri says
I hope so too Lyndall π
Jenni | Unclutter Your Universe says
What a wonderful idea Janet. As much as I like time to myself, i’ve discovered that blogging and setting up your own business from home can be a bit isolating, so this would be a great way for me to connect with others in the same position as me. Maybe it’s time for me to set something up in my neck of the woods?
Janet Camilleri says
Absolutely! Do it do it do it!!!
Kooky Chic says
I’ve only met one other blogger face to face, Sandra Kelly from What Lies Within and how wonderful it was to sit and talk all things blogging without the usual eye rolling boredom from non bloggers. I would be there if I could.
Janet Camilleri says
Thanks Kooky. Yes there is nothing like getting together with other people who ‘get’ blogging!
Christine says
I like this idea. Love to go along to one in Canberra at some time.
Janet Camilleri says
Well that’s two votes for a trip to Canberra for me LOL π
Leanne @ Deep Fried Fruit says
Great idea! Can you “pop up” in Canberra? #teamlovinlife
Janet Camilleri says
Great idea!!!!!!
Giselle Fasher says
I’ve registered and can’t wait to meet you Janet!
I haven’t started my blog yet, but worked in digital marketing. I’m keen to learn as much as possible about blogging.
Janet Camilleri says
I’m so glad you’re coming along Giselle and can’t wait to meet you too!
Giselle Fasher says
Hi Janet
Sadly I can’t make it to your Pop Up Blog Zone…I was so looking forward to meeting you.
My hubby’s work/travel schedule has filled up and I’m accompanying him for the two weeks he’s working overseas.
Would it be possible to pass my ticket on to someone else I know who may want to attend?
Janet Camilleri says
Oh noes!!!! Do you have a friend or somebody you could pass your ticket to?
Cat says
These events sound fantastic. I have met quite a few bloggers in person but none to talk about blogging like this. I must say I do love meeting other bloggers in real life.
Janet Camilleri says
I’m not sure where you live Cat but keep an eye out for any bloggy events in your neck of the woods – they are great fun!
Bec Senyard says
I must have missed that first event or it may have been before I launched The Plumbette. Will check out your event and see if I’m available on that date.
Bec Senyard says
GAH! I can’t make it that date. I’m hosting a Christmas party that afternoon!
Janet Camilleri says
Oh shame … it IS that time of year I know. Still I promised myself I would do something THIS YEAR so wanted to squeeze it in. All going well I will hold more next year so keep an eye out!!!
