Practising what I Preach

Do you ever find yourself challenged to practise what you preach?!

One of my regular clients is a beauty salon. Not only did I create their website, I also write content for it on a regular basis.

This month, it was all about the benefits of massage.

Ooops.

I Must Confess – it’s one of those things I know with my head: a regular back and shoulder massage is not just about being pampered. It’s also good for my physical wellbeing, especially when the bursitis in my shoulder is playing up.

And yet … I can go months between appointments.

You’ll be happy to know that I’m finally practising what I preach – and going for a massage every couple of weeks.

Funnily enough, it’s also a recommendation in the Business Plan I’ve prepared as part of my Cert 4 in Small Business Management. When we did a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats), one of my main areas of weakness is my body. If the bursitis in my shoulder gets worse, or spreads to my left side as well – basically, I’m stuffed. So I need to look after myself, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because my very business and income relies on my continued health and wellbeing!

No longer do I have to feel guilty about booking in a back and shoulder massage every other week. It’s not a luxury, it’s essential 😉 !

Do you have any “essentials” in your life that others might look on as “luxuries”?!
