How to Remove Grease Spots in a Hurry

Janet Camilleri · 24/11/2017 ·

I’m sure you know the feeling – you pull a clean shirt on (or go to iron it) and your heart sinks as you discover grease spots on the front.

How are you gonna get those little suckers out?!

Soaking and pre-wash stains often aren’t much help if the item has already been laundered. Besides, you’re in a hurry – you want to wear that shirt TODAY!

Never fear! I’ve discovered a great way to remove grease spots in a hurry AND without washing – and it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!

3 Steps to Remove Grease Spots

1. Place the item on your ironing board with the offending stains on top, and sprinkle the grease spots liberally with talcum powder.

2. Cover the powdered area with paper towel or brown paper.

3. Place your hot iron over the towel/paper for several seconds. The heat from the iron seems to “lift” the grease, where it is absorbed by the talc (the towel/paper is to protect your iron).

Then it’s just a matter of dusting your shirt off or sponging it lightly to remove the powder; if the grease spots have not completely gone, repeat.

And voila – the pesky grease spots will have disappeared. See for yourself …

Try it – it really works!

What’s your tried and true method to remove grease spots from clothing?!

My favourite burgundy shirt dress has grease spots on it – now I remember why I don’t often buy plain colours. Will have to fix it!
