School Holidays when your Kids are Grown

school holidays when the kids are grown

Can you believe – I forgot all about the school holidays?!

It’s a bit like that when your kids are grown.

I knew Mr 23 was on a break from uni, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s holidays for school kids as well. Besides, Mr 23 is still scarcely around even without lectures to attend, as lately has has been working 30 hours a week in his fast food job, as well as doing one day a week as an intern with a local financial planner.

No, it wasn’t til the hubster commented on the Tuesday after Easter that the lack of school traffic would mean a much quicker trip to work than usual.

School holidays barely affect me these days … or do they?

If anything they are slightly annoying, as I tend to avoid the shops and certain outings because I don’t like the crowds. (Maybe I’m just turning into a bit of a hermit after 5 years of working from home!)

For example, I’m desperately in need of a haircut and some highlights, but am thinking it will be a lot easier (and more enjoyable!) if I wait to get an appointment AFTER the school holidays.

And, on my walks in the morning I can go right past the local high school and not pass a single teenager! No doubt they are all enjoying a sleep in 😉 .

Occasionally I hear squeals from the two little girls next door as they play in the yard. But that’s about it really.

Do school holidays have much of an impact on your life these days?
