Shelf Style: Melissa from Suger Coat It

Janet Camilleri · 08/05/2015 ·

I love it when fashion bloggers don’t take themselves too seriously, and have a bit of fun with it.

Which is why I love Melissa from Suger Coat It. Just check out her most recent fashion bloopers post, and you’ll see what I mean!

This is Suger

At the moment, Suger (sorry Melissa, I can’t help it – I always think of you as Suger!) has houses on the brain. I think she’s just a little excited about moving into their new place very very soon … this will be their fifth home (excluding those they have rented) so the time is right for her to share her Ikea #shelfstyle with us …

Ikea shelf style with Suger Coat It

1. What room are your shelves in?

They were in our combined living and dining area. We are in the process of purchasing a new home where I think they will end up in the long, sort of narrow main bedroom as a room divider.

2. How long have you had them?

Four years, give or take.

3. What do you store in the drawers/cupboards/boxes?

Junk. Lots and lots of junk. Haha. We have one that is used for items my nieces and nephews leave at the house, two boxes are for incoming mail for my blogs (Melissa is also behind the Leave Home blog), and the rest is literally stuff I can’t stand looking at, but couldn’t be bothered dealing with!

4. What is your favourite decorator item on your shelves and why?

I love the ever changing range of art work. Whether it’s the canvas print my niece painted me, or the metal type set signs, I just love things to look at.

5. How often do you change the “look” of your shelves?

I like to change with the seasons. We have some items I put out at Easter, during the Halloween season and Christmas / New Year. It’s fun. Like an homage to the seasons. And it means I’m forced to dust at least once every few months 😉

Thanks Suger, I look forward to seeing more of your #fashionfromtherealworld and of course, some pics of the new house in due course!

It’s Your Turn!

250x250xshelf-style-300x300.jpg.pagespeed.ic.eIZHpJ-q6oIf you have a set of Ikea shelves (or another brand) in your home – why not join in the fun? I’d love to feature yours in an upcoming blog post! All you have to do is snap some pics and answer the same five questions as Melissa from Suger Coat It has above, and email them to me at [email protected]. Oh – and you don’t have to be a blogger to join in!

How many homes have you had in your adult life? I think we’ve lived in five over the past 25 years!

Meet the Middle Aged Mama

Janet Camilleri is an Australian bloggerHi - I'm Janet Camilleri aka the Middle Aged Mama; crazy cat lady, award-winning business woman, and mother of two grown children. I might be a middle aged woman, but that doesn't mean I've lost all interest in looking stylish! I love chocolate, chick lit, cruising holidays and the husbear - and not necessarily in that order wink. I live in Brisbane, Australia, and I'm learning how to fashion a new life now that we have an empty nest - did somebody say "travel"?!
