Snapshots from Mallorca

First things first: is is Majorca, or Mallorca?!

Avenue of trees in Mallorca

All our travel documents and cruise brochures said “Mallorca”; but as a regular trashy magazine reader, I was much more used to “Majorca”, being a popular holiday destination for the rich and famous.

Turns out the Spanish call it Mallorca; many years ago, the British gave it their own spelling of Majorca.

Whichever version you prefer, looking at these snapshots from Mallorca, it’s easy to see why this sunny island off the coast of Spain is such a drawcard!

Why have just a roundabout when you can have a fountain as well?!
Resting my weary feet!
Grounds of the cathedral
Can you see the swans?!
The hubster was fascinated by this very sculptural looking tree trunk!
Exploring the streets of Mallorca
Along the waterfront
This statue looks more Egyptian than Spanish …
And to quote my old friends Bill & Ted – check out this statue of some gnarly old goat dude 😉
The hubster also admired this Renault smart car
Souvenir shopping – when in Spain, buy Sangria!
So you thought boomerangs were an Australian icon? They also sell them as souvenirs on Mallorca!

Which spelling do you prefer for Majorca/Mallorca – and do you think we should let them get away with selling boomerangs as souvenirs?!
