So You Want to Stay in Seminyak …

Bali dreaming
This is a sponsored post for www.villa-finder.com.

Mid winter – even the mostly mild winter we experience here in Queensland – and I can’t help feeling a bit “meh”.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s been daydreaming of a holiday in a tropical destination!

And my destination of choice would have to be … Bali. We had such a magical time there last year, that I’d love to go back. There is so much that we didn’t get to see or experience first time around, a week just wasn’t long enough!

There are so many reasons to choose Bali. Being just a six hour flight from Brisbane, means no jet lag. You can be as busy or as lazy as you want – last time, we arrived in early January and stayed at a five star hotel in Nusa Dua. We barely moved from the pool or the beach as we were so exhausted from the Christmas craziness.

Next time around (and I’m sure there will be a next time!), I’d love to do things a little differently. It would be wonderful to take the whole family, even if our kids are all grown up. They’re actually kinda fun to be around these days 😉 .

A hotel wouldn’t really work if we went as a family, and I keep hearing wonderful things about Seminyak …

Why Stay in Seminyak?

Because Seminyak is located on the western side of the island, it’s the perfect place to watch the sunset over the ocean – always a rare treat for those of us living on Australia’s east coast.

Not only is Seminyak closer to the airport than where we stayed last time, I’m told it is not as isolated as Nusa Dua, without being the assault to the senses that is Kuta. Some say that the best restaurants in Bali are to be found in Seminyak!

When it comes to accommodation options, staying in a villa in Seminyak sounds perfect for a family holiday: so much more space to relax, without having to share the pool and other facilities with a mixed bag of strangers.

With Villa-Finder, it is possible to enjoy space and privacy, plus many hotel benefits. Not only are staff on site, to take care of the daily housekeeping, gardens and swimming pool/s, but each villa has a manager ready to help with whatever you may need – from booking a cab, to arranging day trips, meals, babysitting, parties etc.

What Can You Expect from Villa-Finder

You can expect most mod cons, including wifi, and pretty much everything you need for a memorable holiday.

Given Bali’s humidity, air conditioning is a must for a relaxing night’s sleep – and all bedrooms are air conditioned.

As some of the villas feature indoor/outdoor living spaces, it is not always possible to have them air conditioned – but during the day, you can always escape the heat in your own pool. However if you have little ones, make sure you mention this when booking to ensure the pool is fenced, as regulations are not as strict as here in Australia.

While not every villa will be equipped with insect screens, mosquito nets are provided; and if screens – or any other feature – are of particular importance to you, your own personal Villa-Finder consultant will help you find the perfect accommodation for your needs.

Many of the villas offer a complimentary breakfast on the first day. For the rest of your stay, your options include self-catering, your own cook, or eating out, or a combination of all three. Kitchens come equipped with a microwave, fridge, stove, kettle, other cooking appliances, utensils, and seasoning.

The self-catering option is popular and a lot more affordable when compared to expensive hotel prices. On our last trip, the hubster loved a particular energy drink that was about $4.50 AUD at our hotel – later, he saw it at a convenience store for approximately 90 cents Australian. That’s one heck of a mark up!

There are villas to suit every type of family.

Small Family Villas

If you have a young family, then the two bedroom Villa Makasih in the heart of Seminyak is sure to please.

Although it’s an easy stroll to the beach, shops and restaurants nearby, you will find it hard to leave the comfort of your own private pool, day bed and Balinese beach hut.

For Older Families

For older families like ours, which include grown children and their partners, the Villa Theo is ideal. Situated amidst lush rice fields, the villa is about 10 minutes’ walk out of Seminyak, and 20 minutes from the beach.

With accommodation for up to 10 people, this 5 bedroom property would also suit a couple of young families wanting to pool their resources and holiday together. By swapping babysitting, you will be able to indulge in regular sessions in the private spa which features two massage beds!

Weddings, Parties, Anything!

Want to bring the extended family – perhaps for a 50th wedding anniversary, a special birthday, or a destination wedding?

There’s room for the whole tribe in the Abaca Villas, with a total of 15 bedrooms across four villas, four separate kitchens, four pools, and various entertaining areas, so you can enjoy togetherness or privacy as your heart desires.

*Sigh* the photos are so beautiful, I’m ready to book my plane ticket, how about you?

And if that volcano should decide to erupt again, I’m sure I wouldn’t mind being stuck in Bali for just a few more days in such comfortable accommodation 😉 .
