Styling up your Favourite Summer Dress

NB. This is a sponsored post

We all have that one favourite summer dress that we feel most comfortable in (frequent readers will know it’s what I call an “everywhere dress“), and as a result, we tend to wear it week in, week out.

It can get over-worn and become a dull look – unless you can figure out ways to accessorise and bring a fresh style to your outfit. So, why not get creative and see what you can put together to add more spice and flavor to your favourite summer dress?

Change your Shoes

Always wear your favourite summer dress with the same pair of thongs shoes? (Yep, me too!) Time to mix things up a bit! Why not try a pair of wedges, a sparkly pair of flip-flops, some strappy sandals, gladiators or even some jellies (I have it on good authority – Miss 17 – that they are back “in”!)

How about a Hat?

I must admit I don’t normally wear a hat, which is VERY naughty of me, considering we live in the skin cancer capital of the world :-(.

Here are just a few that I really should invest in for my wardrobe health’s sake …

Spice it up with a Scarf

I have a “thing” for scarves, and they really do change the look of an outfit, adding colour and variety.

Floral always looks fresh, or take a walk on the wild side with a spot of animal print! You can wear it loose around the neckline of your favourite summer dress, tie it in your hair, use it as a belt …

Belt Up your Favourite Summer Dress

Belts look terrible on me (apple shape anybody?), but I still admire them on others. Nothing transforms your favorite summer dress like cinching it with a cool belt. A thicker belt can give you a fun, retro look while a slimmer belt gets you that fashionable French look.

Jewellery

If you are looking to bring more interesting colors to your outfit, you can’t go past jewellery. Charm bracelets with different beading can really complement a look – Michael Hill offers striking Murano Glass charm bracelets with vivid colors. Definitely on my Christmas wish list!

Putting a whole new spin on your favourite summer dress doesn’t need to be difficult. You’ll be surprised how much fun you can have, styling it up so you have a whole new look!

If you’d like some more inspiration, keep an eye out on the blog in the next week or two, as I will by styling up a plain black summer dress a number of different ways …
