The Contented Fashionista

Janet Camilleri · 15/07/2013 ·

I Must Confess – and I can’t believe I’m admitting to this – but I’m actually feeling very satisfied with my wardrobe at the moment, and don’t feel that I particularly need anything more (GASP!).

Even Miss 16 says she is feeling the same thing!

But then we were at Logan last week for her orthodontist appointment (she got her braces off!), and had a couple of hours to kill before her retainer was ready … and the Logan Hyperdome was RIGHT THERE … I mean, what’s a girl to do?!

We had a coffee but then went for a wander. It was hard to get into it, feeling this sense of wardrobe contentment (first world problem, I know)!

We ended up buying some socks and jocks, because there’s no such thing as having too many of these, is there?!

bargain blouseThen, browsing in Jay Jays, we can across a $15 sale rack. Even better, it turned out it was a two for the price of one sale rack. Lo and behold we BOTH found a top we liked, in our size. What are the chances peoples?! It was meant to be!

Here is the blouse that cost me all of $7.50. It’s floral, it’s sheer, it doesn’t need ironing, it was a bargain – what’s not to like?!

I didn’t need it, but I have learned that when I actually find something I like, in my price range, that suits me and my lifestyle, and fits – just buy it!

A lovely new shirt. An overwhelming sense of wardrobe contentment. I wonder how long it will last?! It must be nearly time for the Spring fashions to start making their way into store, and then that yearning for something new and pretty will no doubt begin to take hold …

How are you feeling about your wardrobe at the moment?

It’s Monday, so I’m joining up with My Home Truths for I Must Confess, and One Mother Hen for Open Slather.

I”m so glad that you are at the point where you are happy with your wardrobe. I am not very happy with my wardrobe – mainly because it is shrinking fast – in direct inverse proportion to the speed at which I am putting on weight ! I am now at my heaviest ever and it is doing my head in. We are off to Tassie next month and I have very little to wear. A wanted to buy me some warm jackets etc but I feel it is a waste of money – this weight has to come off soon – surely it can’t keep creeping up while eating fruit, veg and protein ?????
It’s so good to hear someone who is happy with what they have – keep it up !
    Have a great week !

I think it’s because I’ve accepted that I’m heavier and just shopped accordingly. I’ve been this size for a while so have had time to collect some great pieces.

That was a great buy – well done! Right now I am feeling like my wardrobe needs a good clean out – I have a ton of stuff that I just don’t wear any more, lots of impulse buys that were a good price but just don’t suit me, and just plain old ‘what the hell was I thinking when I bought this’ moments! So I need to do a good clean-out, and take a few bagloads up to the local Salvo’s, I think!

I did a wardrobe overhaul about 2 months ago, it’s a good feeling!

    Well done ?

I know I’ve said this before, but I’m useless at shopping. I always see great things when I don’t have the time or money, and then can’t find anything I like when I’m willing and able to buy!

Oh I know what this is like, believe me!

I’m a that stage when I dread looking for something to wear in the closet. I could really do with a good shopping spree for clothes/shoes for all of us!

I hope that the shopping fairy visits you soon! xxx

A good find! You can’t go wrong with spending so little!
My wardrobe is huge and I cannot fit most of it at present as I am breastfeeding. Still have 6 kilos to lose and nothing wears well around the waist so rather miserable about it. Still, I like to think I am doing the best for baby so Momma’s body will just have to come second in the fashion stakes this season (and hopefully not too many after she’s weaned)!

Ah the joys of breastfeeding, it really curtails your wardrobe doesn’t it?!

Good on you Janet! It’s a nice place to be when you like what you have to wear I think – is a big boost for the self esteem!
My wardrobe is somewhere in between at the moment. I’m feeling like a bit of a frump lately, especially since going back to work & realising my old ‘work’ clothes are a bit (lot) more snug than when I wore them pre-baby #2. 🙁
I have since picked up a few pieces I feel good in when I wear them – but reality is I need to do some ‘work’ on my bod if I am going to get back to feeling really content! So allergic to dedicated exercise!! 😉

Well I am S L O W L Y losing my post baby weight. I had to buy clothes when none of my clothes fit me and it felt so good to have a limited wardrobe that I could mix and match from while I worked on losing the kilos. Great buy at Jay Jays. That shirt is very versatile!

My wardrobe needs an overhaul but we are not in the financial position to do so. Might have to visit JayJays anyway Ha ha…glad you scored a bargain

I don’t think I have ever been completely happy with my wardrobe! So glad that you are – maybe one day I’ll get there myself!

I am not loving my wardrobe at all at the moment. Feeling very blah about it. I need to give it a good clean out and take out the things that don’t fit, then I can work out where to go from there. It’s so awesome though finding someone on sale that is in your size! It is definitely meant to be.

I agree completely! I love a bargain and that is a great shirt!! How am I feeling about my wardrobe at the moment? Fine, and proud. It’s just my body that doesn’t quite fit into it. Slight problem.

Jen, from the comments here, I think there are a lot of folks feeling the same …
