The Drop Waist Dress is Back!

fashion for middle aged women

Although some might think the fashions of the 1980’s should never return (and they could be right when it comes to fluro leg warmers and big hair!), I’ve been waiting patiently for the drop waist dress to make its return.

Finally the fashion gods have heard my plea – I’m starting to see signs that the drop waist dress is back, baby!

So why am I so excited about the return of the drop waist dress?

Why I Love a Drop Waist Dress!

Well for starters, it’s perfect for our hot Aussie summers – does anybody else remember it being called the Queensland dress?!

And in addition to being cool and comfy, drop waist dresses suit pretty much any figure – even those with tubby tummies an apple shape, like me.

Barbados dress from The Unique You – sorry sold out!

As you can see, I’ve already added the first (of what will probably be many!) drop waist dresses to my wardrobe … but here are some others you might like …

Emerson by Big W – $25 (this link will take you to a plain navy version, I couldn’t find the striped one online)

Suzanne Grae print drop waist dress – was $49.95, now $34.97

Decjuba dress in berry now $20

“That’s all very well,” I hear you say. “Lovely for the beach – but what about more formal occasions? Surely a drop waist dress won’t work for a wedding!”

Oh ye of little faith …

Then how about these lovelies?

From Ezibuy – this dress by Next for $69

I wish I could add all of them to my wardrobe, right now, but the hubster would probably have a conniption!

So who’s with me … is anybody else celebrating the return of the drop waist dress?!
