What are My Weaknesses?

Janet Camilleri · 05/08/2022 ·

Don’t you hate it in a job interview, when they get to THAT question.

chocolate face

Are you really going to answer it honestly? Imagine if you said something like this:

What are my weaknesses? Well let me see – I’m so good at what I do, I make all my workmates look bad and then they hate me?!

Of course, they want to know about the weaknesses that are likely to affect your performance in the workplace.

That’s not the weaknesses I want to share with you today; instead I’m going to confess my little vices, or addictions … don’t worry, nothing unsavoury here!

What are my Weaknesses?

  • Chocolate: Oh my goodness, it is difficult for me to resist the lure of chocolate. As you can probably tell by my waistline.
  • Food: Actually, make that food in general and ditto about my waistline. As the comedian Dylan Moran said when we saw him live: Why do they keep making sh!% yummier?! Food just tastes sooooo good!
  • Naps: Even though my battles with anemia are over, I still love me a nanna nap. Is this really a weakness though? I was listening to the radio last week, and a psychologist said something that has really stayed with me: Sleep is not a luxury. We set ourselves up for negative outcomes when we don’t get enough sleep.
  • Op shops: I have a weakness for op shops and can never resist having a poke around. Still, why resist?! It’s an OP SHOP peoples! Stuff is cheap – plus it’s usually supporting a good cause!
  • Scarves: Miss 20 will be rolling her eyes at this one. I have a serious weakness for scarves. They are like a magnet, I am drawn to the scarves on display whenever I set foot inside a store. I have drawers full of them already, which is pretty crazy – it is so hot and sticky here in Brisbane, I really only get to wear them for maybe 3 months of the year. Whatever!
  • Books and magazines: I’m a huge reader, and will get through 2 or even 3 novels a week. Luckily I have the library to support my little habit, or it could end up as expensive as an addiction to an illicit substance …

Do you share any of my “little” weaknesses?

I might be a middle aged woman, but that doesn't mean I've lost all interest in looking stylish! I love chocolate, chick lit, cruising holidays and the husbear - and not necessarily in that order wink. I live in Brisbane, Australia, and I'm learning how to fashion a new life now that we have an empty nest - did somebody say "travel"?!
