As I know some of you have been following my colour journey with interest, I wanted to share a few of the tidbits I learned at the follow-up style and image workshop I attended a couple of weeks ago.
1. A New Way to Tie a Scarf
Maybe this one is only new to me, but I was impressed! I have some scarves that feel too full when I wear them, and this is a great way to give them a smaller, neater look.
- Step 1 – Start by putting your scarf on backwards ie loop at the front, ends crossed around the back and pulled forward to the front as per photo below.
- Step 2 – Pick up the two ends and bring them over the loop in the centre, and tuck inside.
- Step 3 – Repeat (so in effect you are tucking the ends over and through twice).
- Step 4 – And voila, a lovely neat scarf!
2. Why European Women Look So Classy
Did you know that Europeans spend 25% of their income on appearance; while Australians spend a measly 3%?
No wonder French and Italian women always looks so classy – and we Aussies have a bit of a reputation for being “daggy” or “bogans”.
(Although, I have another theory: it’s just too darn hot and humid for about 75% of the year here, that it’s hard to look stylish when really we are all just a hot mess.)
3. Wearing Lipstick is Important!
Wearing lipstick is important especially for work or business – and it may well be a case of the brighter the better!
Lipstick shows that you are confident in the words that come out of your mouth, and helps to give credibility to what you are saying. (I love little tips like this which can give us women in business an edge!)
A name badge or brooch is another way to increase our air of authority in professional situations.
4. Budgets aren’t a Bad Thing
While many of us bemoan having a limited clothing budget, it’s actually a good thing, as you make better decisions with a budget.
5. How to Stop Buying Mistakes
There is a reason why some clothes we buy become firm favourites, and others linger in the wardrobe even if they are in our colours.
It’s because they don’t suit our style personality. But that is a topic for a whole ‘nother post … don’t worry, it’s coming soon!
Did you glean any useful tidbits from this post?!
