5 Things We Love about Victoria Point Cinemas

Janet Camilleri · 15/08/2013 ·

For the last few years our cinema of choice has been the Victoria Point Cineplex. Here are 5 reasons WHY it’s a winner in our book:

1. The armrests between the seats can be lifted up and out of the way, which means I can snuggle up to the hubster. Much more comfortable!

2. The price! Adult tickets are  still less than ten bucks. Years ago the 4 of us went as a family to see “Stuart Little” at another cinema. By the time we bought our tickets and paid for a couple of snacks (which we have always been quite frugal with), we had no change from $50! As you can imagine we didn’t go to the movies very often back then. I used to listen to my Mum rattle on about going to the cinema to watch a matinee every Saturday afternoon when SHE was growing up, and wonder how they could afford it. But now with Victoria Point Cineplex I realise it could still be possible today!

3. It’s local. When I was a kid, if you wanted to see a movie, you had to go into the City (Brisbane). It was a full day production, so best left for school holidays or weekends. Now however, the Victoria Point cinemas are only ten minutes’ drive from our home. Even better, our teenagers can jump on a bus and make their own way there, which means one less occasion that I have to play chauffeur!

4.  Movie Meal Deals. We love that the location of the Victoria Point Cineplex – it’s surrounded by cafes and restaurants, such as Effendi’s, Hog’s Breath, the Thai Tamarind, sushi places – many of which offer “movie meal deals” – discounted meals and move tickets. And of course the fast food chains are also nearby.

Deluxe Cinema
At the Deluxe Cinema for our wedding anniversary last year. We saw “The Five Year Engagement”.

5. The Deluxe cinemas. We’ve been a couple of times now for special occasions – our wedding anniversary last year for example. You’ll feel like royalty – the cinema which only has capacity for about a dozen people. You have to be over 18 as alcohol is served – sorry kids! (Nah I’m not sorry really 😉 !) You can pre-order snacks to be delivered at various points throughout the movie – they make lovely coffees, and the chicken satay sticks are yummy!

What was the last movie that you went to see?

Eight bucks fifty?! Amazing! I went to see a movie last weekend on the ‘Extreme Screen’ (so enormous I could hardly fit the whole thing into my eyeballs) and it cost me $22. So I could practically see 3 movies for the same price at your local. I’ll take the local!!! x

The deluxe cinema however does NOT have reclining seats as stated in the original story.
