Today I’m a woman on a major myth-busting mission – a mission to prove that you can look a million bucks, without spending it.

5 outfits for under $50

But why stop there? While I’m at it, I thought I’d also tackle the misconception that Millers* is not able to help with stylish clothes for the modern woman.

I’ve put together 5 winter outfits under $50 – to suit women of all styles and tastes!

I call this one French style boho chic. Striped shirt? Tick. Deep red? Tick. Navy? Tick. In fact I am in love with these ink coloured cord jeggings currently on sale for just $15 … might just have to hotfoot it to Millers myself! Jacket is currently $15 (UPDATE: unfortunately it looks like this colour is sold out so I have linked to the purple); striped shirt $12. (Necklace for inspiration purposes only.)

Next we have a mod look, animal print ponte pants ($15) and orange turtle neck ($10) – groovy enough for hanging out at home. Or add a beret, some loafers and a jacket, and head to your fave coffee shop to discuss issues like world peace …

Something a bit dressier? You can’t go wrong with a soft denim dress for $40 – a great winter basic. Add boots and bracelet – or a scarf and tights – jacket – pop a skivvy underneath – the options are endless! (Boots and bracelet for illustration purposes only).

Carry on the denim theme with a chambray shirt ($12) and neutral stone trousers ($20) – a break from the heavy black, grey, navy, palette we see so much of in winter. The entire outfit below – including the scarf ($18) – comes in right on $50! Perfect for a sunny Queensland winter day, but you’ll probably want to add a jacket in colder climes.

And my final selection today is a gorgeous boho dress in a monochrome print currently only $15 – you can even afford to add a leather look biker jacket ($35)!

    • I love it too Bec. Trouble is I don’t really go anywhere that I’d wear it – I’m more of a pants girl in winter!

  3. Great looks. I regularly shop at Millers as I can find great clothes for work and don’t have to go broke!

    • Melissa, people are often surprised to learn that I shop at Millers, they think it’s only for “old” ladies – you can tell they’ve never even set foot in a store!

    • If I worked in an office I’d buy it for sure. But it’s a bit dressy for working from home!

  5. Great outfits. I quite love shopping at Miller’s. I have just bought a mini trench coat for only $30 from their online store. It’s very well made and it was a great bargain.

    • Ooo nice šŸ™‚ . I’m still loving the anorak I bought last year before our trip to Europe, so practical and folds up really small!

    • I love both the dresses but realistically, I wouldn’t wear them. The cord jeggings on the other hand, are definitely calling my name …

  8. Ooh, love them! Great finds. I love finding things at shops like Millers and Suzanne Grae because I know my friends won’t have them!

    • Ha good point. People are often surprised I buy things at Millers, they think it’s not stylish or something – clearly they have never actually looked inside a store …

  9. I love Millers because they fit my not-normal, not plus sized weird inbetweeney size really well. My most complimented jacket, a bright orange suit jacket, is from Millers. And because I’m bratty like this, I like to wait until people gush over it before I tell them it’s from Millers, just to see their noses turn up at the stereotype the store has šŸ™‚

    • Haha me too Vanessa. People are such snobs sometimes. And if you didnt’t tell them, they’d never know it came from Millers/Kmart/the op shop!

    • I do too – if only I had somewhere to wear it! It doesn’t really fit my lifestyle but I still love it!

  11. I love it all but there is no way I could handle that orange turtleneck. That would take a lot of swag to pull off!

    • Do you reckon? I’m not a fan of orange but in another colour – say hot pink – it would be a YES from me!

  12. Love them. Great shopping. I’ve been umming and ahhing about bringing back the Outfit Under $50 challenge for the next style challenge. But I’m honestly finding it hard to keep up with the blog at the moment.

  14. I bought a denim dress last week and am loving it layered with tights and boots. I was hesitant to buy it as when I was a child I had one – it felt like a bit of a time warp. So I am glad to see it is ‘in’ and fashionable šŸ˜›

    • Ashlea I remember my Grade 5 teacher had one (back in 1976) and she wore it with a bright yellow turtleneck underneath and yellow beads, I thought she looked SOOOOO glamourous!!! It’s definitely back in fashion again!

    • In a way it reminds me of op shopping. You never know just what gems you might find!
