A Sentence A Day – February 2019

Janet Camilleri · 05/03/2019 ·

Welcome to the February 2019 edition of “A Sentence A Day”, where the days have been filled with the upkeep of our two properties, work, and wedding planning …

sentence a day feb 2019

February – Did I mention a lot of our furniture is still at the old house for staging purposes? That includes the washing machines (yes, I have two washing machines!) – so I still have to trek back to the old house to do the washing, it’s a major production!

February – We bought and installed some new venetian blinds in the downstairs living areas – so much better than sheets at the windows!

February – The writing bug bit me, so I wrote some blog posts πŸ™‚ .

February – Hubby was busy so tonight I went to visit Miss 22 and her man. She made spaghetti for dinner, while I played with the grandkitties, then we watched Married At First Sight while doing a bit of colouring together.

February – Today one of my copywriting buddies from far away phoned with a possible referral which was lovely; we ended up talking shop for about half an hour, it absolutely made my day!

February – Enjoyed learning about how to present more confidently with Sally Prosser, a voice coach and former broadcast journalist, at the local Women’s Network Australia brunch.

February – Mr 24 has been cranky for about a month as he can’t find two pairs of his favourite Harry Potter socks, he even thought somebody had stolen them from the washing line! Well, guess what I found in a chest of drawers in the garage today …

February – Attended a speed networking (like speed dating) lunch held by Redland Women in Business, it was great! Have two promising leads, AND I found a great dentist so hubby can get a second opinion onΒ  his sore tooth.

February – Mowing in the morning – the only problem with wearing sunscreen is that all the dirt and dust really sticks to my skin.

February – Sunday sleep in before tackling housework and washing.

February – Had a meeting today with one of the leads I met on Friday, to discuss ways I can boost their business’ presence online ….

February – Date night! Hubby and I went to our favourite Thai restaurant for dinner.

February – Have I ever mentioned that I love the variety of my work – today I ghost wrote a piece about the history of inns for a client!

February – Valentine’s Day – hubby spoiled me by cooking roast lamb (my favourite) and then we watched the movie “Valentine’s Day” on Netflix. It was a bit slow to start but totally appropriate viewing for the 14th of February!

February – Hubby had an RDO, we watched another movie tonight “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”.

February – Window shopping together – we visited Spotlight, Cash Converters, and a couple of furniture stores – we both really like the bed pictured below, and are quite taken with a glass dining table but not sure if it’s practical.

February – Sunday brunch – pancakes and wedding planning – Miss 22 and her man now have a tentative date and guest list!

February – Signed another contract on the house, hopefully it will mean an earlier settlement for us (as the first contract is subject to sale).

February – Invited to a breakfast meeting of BNI – I’ve heard a lot about it so thought I’d check it out. Not sure if it’s for me though …

February – Had a lovely friend over for a cuppa and to show her the new house πŸ™‚ .

February – Our cupboards were bare so did the grocery shopping in the evening with my Bear.

February – Had a fitting for a new strapless bra, mine are soooo uncomfortable. I’ve heard great things about Intimo so fingers crossed my new bra will be much better, as I feel like I’m avoiding half of my wardrobe at the moment!

February – Hubby saw the new dentist about his problem tooth and she did half of the root canal THERE AND THEN! The previous dentist had stuffed him around, uncertain about an extraction or a root canal, sent him for x rays and to an endodontist – he’d spent $500 for NOTHING. So glad I booked him in to see the dentist I met on 8 February – I’m such a great wife πŸ˜‰ .

February – Went to the Mt Tamborine Wedding Expo with the kids and saw a lovely venue …

February – Note to self: Do NOT take client phone calls before midday on a Monday as my brain isn’t yet in gear!

February – Had to pick up Mr 24 from a train station about halfway home after work, as the track had been closed due to a fatality at a level crossing further down the line πŸ™ .

February – Finance has been approved and a great big SOLD sign went up outside our old house! Settlement is early April.

February – Earlier this month I blogged about my lack of friends – and had 3 or 4 local ladies reach out to me to arrange coffee! Today was my first “blind date” – technically I met Michelle at a conference about a year ago; we both work from home, and live in neighbouring suburbs. Discovered a new friend AND a new cafe – The Vintage Apron at Capalaba:

You probably wouldn’t guess by reading the above, but I think February is my least favourite month of the year. It’s always so hot and so humid … I am dreading our power bill! Thankfully during the past week things have cooled down and become much more pleasant, as we marched into March …

What was your February full of?!

I might be a middle aged woman, but that doesn't mean I've lost all interest in looking stylish! I live in Brisbane, Australia, and I'm learning how to fashion a new life now that we have an empty nest - did somebody say "travel"?!
