A Sentence A Day – July 2018

A Sentence a Day

Looking over my entries for A Sentence A Day over the last month, it seems like it’s been all about the hubster aka my Bear.

And why not, he turned 50 after all! See for yourself …

July – A beautiful Sunday, my Bear and I went for a walk to Cleveland Point and back (about 12 km) as part of our preparation for hiking the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk later this month.

July – My Bear cooked his signature dish for dinner tonight – massaman beef – yum!

July – We ran out of gas so there was no hot shower for me today, boo hoo – though it’s amazing what you can do with a couple of jugs of water filled from the kettle.

July – Just another day of work …

July – Today I completed an Expression of Interest to be a Business Advisor for the ASBAS Digital Solutions Problem. Chances are low but figured it couldn’t hurt (by the way, I was unsuccessful in my application to present a workshop at the QRRWN conference which I mentioned in the June edition of A Sentence a Day).

July – The hubster is taking some time off work until 1st September, this was his last day. In other news, I found a centipede in the hallway ewwwwwwww.

July – Dinner with family to celebrate my Bear’s birthday – a bit early but my parents are leaving for a trip to the US and Canada next week.

July – Another Sunday walk, only (!) five kilometres this time on a path through some nearby bushland.

July – We watched a cool horror movie on Netflix, called “Shutter” (it wasn’t mega scary, more of a thriller I think).

July – Miss 21 flexed for the afternoon so we went to the op shop, the library, and did some fruit and veg shopping (the excitement never ends … LOL).

July – I spotted a koala on my morning walk!

July – Hubster and I did our walk in the rain today. It’s amazing how different things look in the wet weather – we saw some really long worms, and a couple of little waterfalls.

July – Tried out a new mastermind group, even if it did mean getting up at some ungodly hour to be at Mt Gravatt for 7.15am. I love mastermind groups as they are a great way to develop a deeper connection, and it’s not often you get help with your business when you’re a solopreneur like me.

July – Tonight we watched a TV show about Marie Antoinette’s secret village and garden at Versailles, absolutely intriguing.

July – Such a gorgeous Sunday, hubster and I visited the Manly markets before visiting Miss 21 in her new “crib” (as she calls it).

July – Busy day workwise, so much to get done before we go away on Wednesday for my Bear’s birthday.

July – Boo hoo, I broke a nail AND have a painful ulcer on my tongue, don’t you just hate that? I’ve noticed that eating Fruit Tingles, and pineapple, tend to do that to me.

July – We drove up to O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat, what a freaky drive up the mountain! Winding and torturous – only single lane in places, near the cliff edge, lots of roadworks, and to top it all off the local authorities were doing some back burning so it was weird seeing flames right next to the road, while in other places the smoke was so thick we had very little visibility. However it was worth it, we watched the sunset from the deck outside the Rainforest Bar, followed by an amazing meal in the restaurant.

July – My Bear’s 50th Birthday! We hiked from O’Reilly’s to Binna Burra, setting out at 8.20am and arriving at Binna Burra just before 5pm. It was a wonderful experience but right at the end my knee started giving me curry, ouch.

July – We spent a quiet day relaxing at Binna Burra, hoping to build up our strength for the hike back tomorrow …

July – Too sore for the return trip so we got a bus back instead, driven by a member of the O’Reilly family – it was like having our own personal tour guide! Did the Tree Top Walk before reluctantly heading home.

July – The kids spoiled the hubster for his birthday, with pressies including fishing rod and tackle, and a coffee pod machine.

July – Monday and I’m back to work, absolutely swamped after taking 3 days off last week.

July – Hubster and I might have done a bit of op shopping …

July – Christmas in July indeed, we got a wonderful present – our house guest moved out, after 19 weeks and 6 days (not that we were counting or anything).

July – So excited to move my desk out of our bedroom and back into my office. We rearranged the furniture in our room – no more bed in front of the window!

July – Family dinner at Miss 21’s.

July – Miss Fleur is also very happy to be back in her own office chair as you can see below (hubster would argue that it’s HIS chair, but she uses it the most!).

July – I must be sick, I could have indulged in a Sunday afternoon nanna nap but didn’t!

July – Met up with a new client.

July – Still swamped with work, so I stayed at my desk til about 9pm before collapsing on the couch to watch Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

If I had to choose a highlight, it would be our hiking trip … what was your highlight for the month that was July 2018?
