A Sentence A Day: June 2019

Janet Camilleri · 02/07/2019 ·

I’ve decided to call June 2019 the month of miracles and blessings …

a sentence a day june 2019

Miracles: Turns out my father-in-law does not have oesophogal cancer! While we are definitely thrilled with this turn of events … I still think the doctors who said he had cancer in the first place should be shot, for upsetting everybody and causing a lot of heartache in the meantime. They are now saying it was an ulcer.

Blessings: Lots of little things that I didn’t write down so can’t remember, or that I can’t share here. Although here’s a taste: a small investment of ours has gone really well, and we were blessed to be a blessing to somebody else.

1 June – Did a bit of clothes shopping today, came home with a new pair of forest green pants (because it feels like all I wear at this time of year is blue denim jeans or black pants) and a pretty blouse in a (shock horror!) mustard yellow print!

2 June – We went to a small wedding; the reception was a Chinese banquet. Yum yum!

3 June – Met with a local real estate agent about writing up their new property listings – I’ve always wanted to try my hand at that so fingers crossed.

4 June – The husbear went up to Toowoomba to visit his parents, only to learn that they’d just been advised that actually, he doesn’t have cancer …

5 June – Oh wow it’s cold! Winter is here with a vengeance and I still haven’t found the box with all my jumpers, my favourite black jeans or my tunic dresses in it …

6 June – Another client meeting, looking forward to turbo charging this local business in organic search results.

7 June – Miss 22 helped me dye my hair, the box calls it “caramel” but it makes me think of gingerbread! It’s only temporary, wanted to try a new look in keeping with my autumn palette, what do you think?! I’m quite liking it!

8 June – A rainy Saturday – we had a cabinet maker out to quote on doing some modifications to the kitchen cupboards, and building a desk with drawers for my study as well as an entertainment unit downstairs.

9 June – Spent a lazy Sunday binge-watching all the house hunting and reno shows on Channel 94.

10 June – I was sure it was meant to be a public holiday for Queen’s birthday but the kids assured me I was wrong – apparently it’s been moved to October here in Queensland? Visited Miss 22 and her man for coffee and dessert – creme brulee – yummy.

11 June – Miss 22 popped in for a cup of tea before she had to go to the dentist.

12 June – Headed out in the evening to a local business network meeting. The group is called Five Foot Rope but I have no idea why!

13 June – Back to the dentist for some finishing touches to my new smile, as well as a professional clean and fluoride treatment. Afterwards I went wallpaper shopping – we’d like to do one wall in my office, and the one above the planned entertainment unit. I’d really like something in black and gold …

14 June – Made brownies.

15 June – Wedding dress shopping in the morning with Miss 22, but the place was a bit of a dive to be honest and we didn’t find anything. When I got home I was very glad I made the brownies yesterday as two of the husbear’s uncles stopped by! They were in town to see my father-in-law after his cancer scare.

16 June – The cupboards were bare (hence the brownies) so I did a grocery shop. I also picked up a couple of new business shirts for the husbear as he is going back to work tomorrow (he’s had about 6 weeks off); anything to make the first day back a bit less painful for him!

17 June – The poor old husbear went back to work meanwhile I caught up with a couple of my old workmates and this little cutie for coffee.

18 June – Got a haircut and checked out a furniture store nearby first – saw a lounge I loved except for two things – the price (LOL) and it was in a woven fabric which Miss Fleur would shred in no time 🙁 .

19 June – Watched Escape to the Chateau with Mr 25’s cat Seth keeping my lap warm. I wish Miss Fleur liked cuddling like that!

20 June – Work work and more work. Oh and I changed our sheets. Exciting stuff.

21 June – The husbear had an RDO so we went out for lunch.

22 June – Do you like the new screen the husbear installed during his time off?!

23 June – Big W had an amazing sale so I finally bought the Dyson V6 I’ve wanted since we moved here – it will make keeping the stairs clean that much easier. Fleur just liked the box …

24 June – Did I mention I got the real estate gig? My first property listing went live today!

25 June – Started the day with a business workshop, “How to Grow Your Business without Overwhelm”. My business has definitely been growing this year but along with the growth, comes the growing pains, so I still have much to learn!

26 June – Did you see? I had a guest post published on the New Life on the Road blog, about Caravanning with Kids.

27 June – Caught up with a couple of my business-owning buddies for lunch.

28 June – In the evening, Miss 22 and I went to a book launch at the Avid Reader at West End – I’ve known the author for over 10 years so that was a bit exciting – congratulations Tabitha Bird on the release of “A Lifetime of Impossible Days“! Luckily I left home early because I got hopelessly lost on the way there …

29 June – Brunch meeting with the gals of LMBDW X Bayside – all business owners like me. I must REALLY like this group because I don’t get up early on a Saturday morning for just anyone! In the afternoon we went wedding dress shopping, Miss 22 looked stunning in absolutely everything, but by the time we left she’d narrowed it down to just two gowns …

30 June – She said YES TO THE DRESS! The dress she picked is the one that I actually liked the best. While the other one was gorgeous it was more of a red carpet dress than a wedding dress, if you know what I mean.

I came across this quote recently:

“Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day.”

What a great reminder of what my Sentence A Day posts are all about – developing an attitude of gratitude!

Can you tell me 3 good things about your month?!
