It’s not been an easy month – work has been flat out, the husbear needed urgent surgery, and both of our dads are in poor health …

1 September – The husbear had to go into work for some meetings in the morning – he brought home lunch for a surprise. What a good bear!

9 September – A friend had surgery last week so I popped over to her house with some flowers for a quick visit. Oh, and my new outdoor rug arrived!

11 September – Turns out the husbear overdid it on the weekend, he was admitted to hospital for emergency surgery to repair an incarcerated hernia.

12 September – Picked up the husbear when he was discharged from hospital and the kids came to see how he was.

13 September – More internet shopping! This time I ordered two cute kitty pics, and some blush pink curtains for our bedroom. Plus, I’ve been looking after the husbear …

14 September – Stopped in at Miss 23’s house for lunch after I’d had a meeting nearby; luckily she was working from home (she is still only going into the office a couple of days a week).

15 September – I’m continuing with my weekly sessions with the awesome Sally, my personal trainer – this week she introduced me to boxing as a great form of cardio, and to my surprise I really enjoyed it!

16 September – My neck and shoulders have been quite sore this week, so was very happy to head off to my regular chiropractor’s appointment today. The in-laws were in the area so stopped in for lunch.

17 September – Business mastermind group meeting. Oh, and my curtains arrived and they are definitely NOT blush pink …

18 September – A night out at the movies with our son! We are huge Bill and Ted fans, so we saw Bill and Ted 3 (Bill and Ted Face the Music). I wasn’t expecting much (sequels are never as good) but it was better than I’d expected … we gave it a solid 3.5 out of 5 😉 .

19 September – The husbear and I visited the Caravan and Camping expo, which was held in our local showgrounds; then visited Miss 23 and her fiance for dinner.

20 September – Took my curtains back to Spotlight. The husbear has been occupying himself during his convalescence by converting our old home movies on video tapes to disc, today we saw one from when we were very first married – just 6 weeks wed – and couldn’t get over how shy and awkward we were with each other!

21 September – What a hot day! Had a meeting in the morning. In the late afternoon we had a brief phone call with My Dad. He’s still in stroke rehab, has severe aphasia so can’t really carry a conversation but at least we could let him know we’re thinking of him, he must feel so isolated with no visitors allowed 🙁 .

22 September – There was a massive huntsman spider in our room just as we were getting ready for bed, but Miss Fleur helped us capture him! What a good girl!

23 September – Sent out an invoice today and realised, this has been my BIGGEST. MONTH. EVER. No wonder I’ve been so busy!

24 September – I’m stepping up my business coaching as I’ve hit a critical stage, and realise that I need help to take it to the next level.

25 September – The husbear and I went for a morning walk; he had the first week off work following his op but was back at his desk (here at home) after that – thankfully he’s made a rapid recovery.

26 September – I did a spot of op shopping and came home with three new tops, and a pewter clutch which is exactly what I was looking for, for Miss 23’s wedding (postponed til July next year).

27 September – Lovely Sunday morning sleep in; our boy came over to hang and shoot some hoops.

28 September – My dad was discharged from rehab and is now settling in at home; here I am heading off to another meeting.

heading to a meeting 1

29 September – Taking care of my own health and wellbeing with a morning walk, and then a massage, lucky me!

30 September – Visited my Dad and stepmum today, haven’t been able to actually see him since mid-August due to Covid restrictions. My heart is heavy as now I have seen first hand how much he has been affected by the bleed on the brain last month, worse than when he had the stroke in March 🙁 . As you can see in the pic below, we weren’t the only visitors …

Sorry to end this month on a bit of a downer … but that’s just how it’s been lately. Trying to be thankful for the little things – at least we aren’t in lockdown, we have sunny days and celebrate happy moments where we can; and with my business really taking off, it’s certainly helped to be able to throw myself into work.

What’s new with you?! Leave a comment, I’d love to hear!

Meet the Middle Aged Mama

Janet Camilleri is an Australian bloggerHi - I'm Janet Camilleri aka the Middle Aged Mama; crazy cat lady, award-winning business woman, and mother of two grown children. I might be a middle aged woman, but that doesn't mean I've lost all interest in looking stylish! I love chocolate, chick lit, cruising holidays and the husbear - and not necessarily in that order wink. I live in Brisbane, Australia, and I'm learning how to fashion a new life now that we have an empty nest - did somebody say "travel"?!
